  1. My experience is that beef is tougher than venison.
  2. I have to admit, they did have a good amount of what I consider "top shelf guns". Covering things up with pen to aid in a sale really casts a shadow of doubt, though.
  3. Shooter's Depot on Shallowford. Look @ the Sig P239 9mm "new". The gun looks good, but the sharpie job really makes me cringe. If it's still there.
  4. I own a Glock and a Sig. I was told to break in a gun with at least 200 rounds before I expected any accuracy with any gun. I have also heard that Sig is "accurate out of the box". It is true. Takdriver from day one and several thousand rounds later it still outshoots the Glock. The Nitron definitley takes a little more TLC than Tenifer, though. Your 229 will hook you for life. Get a good holster and all other guns will fade away.
  5. I will see if I can get hold of the gun again and do this. Can I do this easily without a magblock?
  6. I can move the hammer back a little fighting the spring tension. The safety is completely stuck, though. I can push the hammer back and release is manually bypassing the trigger. From what it appears I did get all the detent out (Point is intact and bottom seems to be squared and not sheared off). The spring looks good, too. I am not knowledgeable about the AR-15 past breakdown for cleaning, but these parts seemed fine compared to the integrity of parts of other guns I have broken down.
  7. Thanks for the info, but the detent and the spring came out fine and the switch is still stuck.
  8. A friend has an AR-15 that has the safety stuck in the safe position. I have removed the grip and checked the detent and spring and it does come out and the switch still will not move. Any suggestions? THX
  9. A gun shop opened recently here in Chattanooga. I found it very interesting to pick up a brand new Sig p239 9mm and find that the breech area of the barrel had been colored in with black marker. Is it normal to cover up marks w/marker from racking the slide? I am aware that if I am looking for a gun the bluing will most likely be a bit worn from assembly and handling. A walk around the store shows that most stuff looked as if it was very old and someone cleaned out their attic or bought some old stores out and put it int their new location. After engaging one person about a magazine I was looking for they had it! The person then proceeded to lie to me that it was an out of production mag and that I needed to snatch it up NOW! Kind of amazing that it was for a new line of a gun and that they were supposedly quitting production. I don't know if I can name the store without drawing heat here so I'll just say that these new people in the non-big box store need to have their shoppers proceed with caution.
  10. .
  11. Are these finally available in the U.S?
  12. The Rugers are nice .22's but the Walther P22 is just plain fun. Inexpensive as well. It gives a good feel and funtionality is close to a bigger auto. The Ruger 22/45 and the Walther P22 are set up close to the same way the pistol one would normally carry and that's a benefit for cheap practice.
  13. I shot one several years ago before Glock sued them. I just didn't know a lot about them and don't want to recommend this lesser priced gun to someone on a budget. I don't remember having a problem with the gun shooting it, but it turned me off because it was a complete rip off of a Glock.
  14. This is a good representation of what I speak. S&W SW40VE .40SW Black/Stainless for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $339.00 Are they reliable and able to withstand a lot of rounds or are they lower priced trash that would not be able to be depended on in a life or death situation?
  15. The type I am talking about is the Sigma and the designation on the model number ending in VE on the other models. Sportman's Warehouse usually has them for $300.00 with a $50.00 rebate.
  16. Is there a quality or safety issue associated with the S&W Value Edition compared to the multiple other semi-autos that S&W produces? Not looking for conjecture or preference. Maybe an armorer or gunsmith can answer this one. I don't want to recommend this as a carry gun until I look around and research it a little. Thanks.
  17. From what I read they stopped production on the single actions for safety reasons. The DA's were supposed to be alright.
  18. I finally found out what this is. It is an Enfield #2 Mark 1. It is a 'tank gun'.
  19. I changed my address and it took 91 days. During that time I got my renewal so I renewed and it took 32 days. Someone else I know applied and they received theirs last month after 31 days. Keep calling them if yours are behind.
  20. This is from Armalite's website and covers cleaning, lubrication, and preservation. A good read. http://www.armalite.com/images/Tech%20Notes/Tech%20Note%2072%20Cleaners%20Lubes%20Preserv%20%20090603%20Rev%201.pdf
  21. I am aware of the differences, but remove the SKS from history and the AK would not exist in my understanding. I could be wrong.
  22. I've heard good things about Hollow Wood Kennels in GA.
  23. In two days my change of address will be 90 days waiting!
  24. $400 in SKS gets a lot more than $400 in AK47. You're talking getting a Russian SKS and a Romanian AK47. Quality differences are huge, mainly milled vs stamped and threaded vs. pinned. Collinp the AK is built on the SKS design. How are they not similar?
