  1. Trap. Ok, I have to re-phrase this. I wish Chip were here to explain to this young lady that I don't trust her, in a politically correct manner. The media, no matter what stripe has a frightful tendency to be unkind to citizens in general and gun owners in particular. No matter the statistics. no matter the facts. That they are, on the whole, disingenuous is an understatement. Their excuse for outright lying to people? "I wanted to get a story".
  2. Both of these kids are my nephews...the Emo kid is 16, the other one is 13... but this is HILARIOUS. I figured you guys would find it funny too.
  3. meh, I'm an idiot..otherwise I'd have a job on the ground like you guys...and I'd have an employer that would actually send me home for a few days after working 3 weeks like they say they'll do. I like this thread though..makes me think about the things I COULD be doing..and gives me motivation to go be a wal mart greeter. see? I'm a simple guy..when I retire off the towers, I'm going to be a wal mart greeter. I've even got the lingo down pat.. "hi, welcome to wal mart!" and I hand em a cart.
  4. I've been working my butt off in Arkansas. Occasionally I'll sit down with a jack and coke but that's about it..for the most part? I see a lot of this:
  5. I use a credit union. Way more benefits and the 2 different credit unions that I use know me and my wife by name. they go out of their way to be personable and I've never had a word said about what I'm wearing, carrying or anything else. Great people to do business with and I generally have (when I'm not buying a new living room suite) several thousand bucks in my accounts. before I had that, they were nice too..just so ya know. pick a small credit union that actually WANTS your business. they're more willing to work with you and for you than some corporate douche nozzle who works in another state. just my 2 cents.
  6. well said!! I don't see the Marines going away. I DO foresee politicians doing their best to muck up the exquisite preparedness that the Marines put themselves in. sadly, that's the way it normally is and sadly, politicians ALWAYS fight as if they are fighting in their last war, even though those who study war caution against that sort of thinking.
  7. I can see where Jay C is coming from...but I also see his failing. David, I don't think it's wrong to cling to the constitution and follow it's edicts..but I also think that Jay C should read more of the Federalist papers. This type of situation has happened before. Blindly following the constitution without applying it's principles to every day life is a sure receipe for disaster. I'm thinking that a corky's bbq will be on one side of this mosque and Greg Gutfield's Islamic gay bar will be on the other side of it.
  8. 1100RR, when are you going to retire, bud? Let me guess, when the youngest turns 18? BTW, Good to see ya again!
  9. they just did..but they called them spies instead...
  10. one good thing about biden...he makes new republicans everywhere he goes!
  11. Thanks dave..Now I feel dumber than I did yesterday.
  12. The Jawa Report: BREAKING: Ohio Homeland Security official Omar Alomari fired after Jawa Report exclusive investigation We've heard from multiple sources today that Ohio Homeland Security multicultural relations director Omar Alomari has been fired as a result of our exclusive Jawa Report investigation into his extremist ties and lying on his resume (omitting he had been fired from a local college for sexual harassment of a student). We reported two weeks ago that he was under investigation. The question is, will Olen Martin, who runs the Ohio Homeland Security's Northern Border Initiative be fired for his two fake degrees on his resume? If not, ODPS will have a lawsuit on their hands. Then again, Alomari will probably sue for discrimination anyways. Here are all our back articles on Omar Alomari and the Ohio Homeland Security follies: Ohio Homeland Security official Omar Alomari under investigation after Jawa Report investigation (June 14, 2010) Insider: Ohio Homeland Security multicultural affairs director Omar Alomari sued his sexual harassment victim (April 27, 2010) Insider: Top Ohio homeland security officials falsify credentials, obtained fake diploma mill degrees (April 21, 2010) Ohio homeland security multicultural affairs director Omar Alomari was fired by college for sleeping with student, but his boss touts his sterling character and outstanding reputation to attack his critics (April 20, 2010) Insider: Ohio homeland security director likens CAIR to gangbangers, drug dealers, mafia rats, criminal informants and other "bad guys" - to justify continuing to work with terror front group!!! (April 19, 2010) Insider: Ohio Homeland Security had to destroy thousands of "anti-radicalization" brochures for promoting terror-linked groups (April 16, 2010) Muslim Leader: Ohio Homeland Security publishing "classic Islamist propaganda" (March 18, 2010)
  13. This is coming from a Mayor that has double the number of normal security officers to protect him and has a firearm himself, as well.
  14. LOL!!! ONLY on a gun forum in Tn can you get instruction in Chemistry.. Most of you guys know I'm a transplant from the deep south. I remember all the jokes about "ignorant hillbillies" etc... Then I had a conversation with a fella in Tn that spanned latin, german and english on varying subjects.. I thought..yep..this is the place for me.
  15. Hornet, are you working on shelter systems still?
  16. d'ya reckon someone might should give him a call and see if he's ok?
  17. 1. the lead and copper used on ranges will always have to be cleaned up. No matter WHAT is used as a projectile, it will have to be cleaned up. 2. as far as I know, people were up in arms about the Army using depleted uranium rounds in their 25 and 30mm cannons. Don't hear much about that anymore, even though it's still used. 3. If someone is saying "this HAS to be done" there's a reason behind it and you can bet there's some sort of money scheme behind it. Show me the ballistics on this "new" round.
  18. Holy cow man!! what have you been FEEDING Dakota?? that boy's growing like a weed!! Last time I saw him, he was skinny as a new york minute and shorter than you by about a foot! And that was only last year I think... Oh...yeah, btw, GREAT work with your daughter! I can't think of any better skill to gift that child with..plus it's loads of fun!
  19. If you really can't stand the scratch, get a dremel and some jewelers rouge and go at it. bear in mind that the finish will look different from the rest of the gun though..if you polish part of it, you have to polish the whole thing..

    The FAL.

The fal is a great rifle. IT DOES run around 11lbs though. girly men don't tote one..that's for sure. neither do old men! J&G Sales out of Arizona has fals for sale for around 700.00. FAL G1 SA Sporter 308Win rifle by CAI, synthetic stock, 22in barrel w/ muzzlebrake. That may be an option for you.
  21. .45 caliber full metal jacket. I reload 200 grain but I'm just as happy with 230 grain... As long as it goes bang, I'm happy with it. Full metal jacket, simply because the .45 is a relatively slow moving round and I'm not very worried about over penetration. I DO however expect it to hit like a sledgehammer. I agree with willcarry though, when shooting someone it's all about where you put the round. remember what the Colonel said: speed is fine..accuracy is final.
