I have an AR-10 (flat top) that I will put a scope on soon. I was wondering suggestions of backup iron sights to use. My main purpose would be long range with the scope but I would like a good set of irons as well. Thanks!

This morning I loaded up my truck and headed up to Spots blacksmith shop. When I arrived, I was greeted by 2 dogs and a pig (literally a pig). Spots came down to meet me and we headed into the forge. After a few minutes of chitchat we decided to make me a Bowie knife as well as a small knife. Spots picked a piece of steel and we put it into the fire. While it was heating up, Spots showed me the different tools and what they did and their practical use. He instructed me on what to do when the steel was at appropriate temp and we soon began hammering on the anvil. I hammered and hammered until the general design of the knife was formed, we angled it, filed it, and polished her down. I did it all again for a smaller knife for my dad. It was a great experience that I plan to indulge in again. It was alot of work, but it was paced out and filled in with good conversation. I was skeptical at first when I PMed Spots about the class. I have never met him and thought it was a little odd that he would spend half of his day teaching me for free. I figured he would ask for money or something...in fact, I thought I would test him a little seeing how all the posts about his class said it was free. I didn't mention money. I didn't mention trading him anything for his time. To my surpass, neither did he. Never once did he ask for money. He never implied anything about a payment. Spots truly likes teaching the art of blacksmithing. His work is top notch. I recommend this class for any/everyone. I'm wanting a base station. I want one that two years from now I don't say, "crap...I wish I would have bought this one instead."

I recently received my tech license (plan to do general and extra) and need some advice on a good first radio. I have a 2 meter that was given to me that can be made mobile. I was looking for a good radio that can do it all from a base station (2m, 6m, 70, hf). Any helpful advice would be appreciated.
