Who is your favorite knife manufacturer?
aquaman67 replied to mav's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Being left handed, I only carry knives that allow me to flip the pocket clip over to the other side. I only carry Benchmades, of the Barrage or Griptilian family. I like Spydercos. I just haven't got into collecting them. -
Two lawmakers push to eliminate gun background checks for more than 300k Tennesseans | TriCities.com Two area lawmakers are pushing for a bill that would eliminate gun background checks for more than 300,000 Tennesseans and that has the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation concerned. Senator Steve Southerland is sponsoring the legislation in the Tennessee Senate and representative David Hawk is doing the same in the house. Under the proposal, people with valid handgun carry permits won't need to pass background checks in order to buy guns. Gun carriers already have to pay $115, pass an intensive background check and get fingerprinted in order to get their permits. Southerland tells us they shouldn't have to pay an extra $10 for another background check every time they buy a new gun. {more at link}

O'Reilly's has their store brand 0W-20 for $5.49 a quart. I believe that Havoline actually makes O'Reilly's store brand.

Murfreesboro Roadblock off 840
aquaman67 replied to Kenstaroni's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There was a Lawyer from Mississippi (on another forum) that went through a roadblock. He presented his permit too. The LEO disarmed him and ran the serial number of his gun to make sure it wasn't stolen. I don't think you should show your permit unless you're asked. -
I want to see how many of those posted places become un-posted when the NRA convention comes to Nashville.

What would you do? Road Rage incident
aquaman67 replied to kesava's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Please allow me to clarify my scuffed pumas remark. I was referring to his initial lane change. Not his reaction to your escalation. Now I wonder. Did you have to take evasive action when he first changed lanes? Did you have to hit your brakes or swerve to avoid a collision? Did you even have to let off the gas? Or did he just squeeze in ahead of you and it pissed you off? Sure it may have been closer than you were comfortable with. But if you didn't have to take evasive action to avoid a collision (when he first changed lanes), did he really "cut you off'? IMO, no. This whole thing went south, IMO when you decided to teach someone a driving lesson at highway speeds no less. Maybe in his opinion he had plenty of room. Maybe he did signal but his bulb is burned out and he doesn't know it. How about someone else who by his own admission routinely tries to teach other people how he wants them to drive? You're not seeing this as a problem? -
I have Pierce extension grips on mine. I IWB with a side clip and a Remora holster. I don't notice any difference.

What would you do? Road Rage incident
aquaman67 replied to kesava's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
1) Your family is in the car with you. 2) You escalated, by your own admission, what could have very well been just an accidental cut off. You could have seriously injured yourself and your family. IMO you need to really think about what's important and what's not. Someone scuffing your Pumas is not worth spending your life in jail or having your kid in a wheelchair for life, now is it? EDITED TO ADD. Here's how this should have gone down. Guy cuts you off. You let off the gas for 5 seconds and resume your trip, unmolested. -
I just saw this story on the Nashville news. Neighbors work to build Jeep for son of fallen soldier - WSMV Channel 4 - Nashville, TN News, Weather and Sports I know there are some Jeep guys here.

Ohio police threaten to execute permit holder video
aquaman67 replied to aquaman67's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Another point. Here in TN, your permit number and driver's license number are the same. So he's going to know you have a permit whether you tell him or not. I haven't been pulled over since I got my permit, but I plan to hand it and my driver's license over at the same time. I'm not sure, but I don't think it's that way in Ohio. -

1 dead, 1 injured in Ashland City shooting
aquaman67 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If guy A shoots guy B in the face, only grazing his cheek and then in the leg, even with a 10mm that probably wouldn't kill guy B.Now the real question is how many times did guy B shoot guy A with the SAME .380 to kill him? Once? I haven't read any account of how many shots guy B fired. -
Ashland City permit holder shooting / getting killled.
aquaman67 replied to aquaman67's topic in General Chat
I agree. But...He shot the guy twice before the gun was taken from him. I've heard it was a .380.I just wondered if anyone here actually knew for sure. I realize too, that shot placement is also key. -
A few weeks ago there was a permit holder that shot someone else, got the gun taken from him and killed with it. It was in the Tennessean.Does anyone know what gun was used? Not that it really matters, but I'm just curious and it may influence what I carry.

Does anyone here work for TVA? I heard that at the last Cumberland outage, they brought the unit up so they would meet a timeline, even though they knew the unit wasn't really ready, just so they could get a bonus. Do they really do stuff like that?

Hang on everyone. Hunker down and stay safe. The fun is about to begin....

It was announced today that the Johnsonville TVA plant will be closed. Does this affect anyone here? I live near the Cumberland TVA plant and know a lot of people who work there.

So I spoke with Applebees about their posting
aquaman67 replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I believe O'Charlie's in Clarksville on Riverside Drive has that same sign. If you stand looking at the bar it's on the left side above the bar. I mean really above the bar. It's about 12 feet high and you can barely see it. I have the feeling it's for the same reason that Applebee's posted it. Some inspector who makes a living from our taxes has no clue what they're doing... -
I picked one of these up at the new Dick's Sporting Goods in Clarksville. I just wanted it for some older knives I really don't use much. I must say I was surprised how well it worked. Surprised enough to use it on my Benchmades...

Thanks for the replies. The snow has been fun and a good test. These Jeeps are really little tanks on wheels.

My son picked up his first Wrangler last week. Where are some good but moderate jeeping trails in middle TN? His rig isn't lifted but does have new 30" BFG AT/KOs on it. We will definitely be checking out LBL's Turkey Bay. Any other places?
