Three TV channels. When the President's on, you're screwed. No Remote for the TV. Want to change the channel or volume, get off your butt or have a kid do it. (How many shows did you watch just because you didn't want to get up and change the channel?) No internet. No Cell Phone. No Cordless phones. No Video Games. Kids Riding Bikes and playing kick the can. Yeah, I could live like that again.
  2. Water expands when heated. This extra volume of water needs to go somewhere. Before the widespread usage of backflow preventers, check valves and pressure reducing valves, this expanded water simply pushed the cold water back into the city water main. These devices prohibit the flow of water from your house back into the public water system. If your water heater has a check valve, I bet it has an internal expansion tank. You don't want the pop-off valve going off all the time.
  3. No, I live in the hills and most of Tennessee would be under water before that pond. The water heater is a great idea for water. The first thing I did when I found out the water was off, was to shut off the breaker to the water heater. I've had to replace the elements before when the water line broke. As I said I'm on a hill so it actually drained my water heater when the line lost pressure. I guess I need to fix that too. I'll need a backflow preventer and an pressure expansion tank so my water heater doesn't blow up...
  4. In the pond where I would be getting the water, there wouldn't be anything in it but rain and fish poop.
  5. With the resent floods the main that services my house washed out of the ditch bank it was buried in and broke. I'm up to my eyeballs in water, but don't have water. This isn't going to happen again. I have a pond. So, what I need is a way to purify water to drink. What's the best thing/method to do this for a family of 4 adults? I've seen some fitlers online but don't know which ones work and which ones will make me poop for days.
  6. The same guy in this case was just involved in a fatal shooting. Gun buff charged in fatal shooting - JSOnline
  7. Hello, If you have proof of handgun training you can skip the range part of the class. But even if you had the training, why would you want to skip the fun part? What part of Hawaii are you in? I spent over four years at Helemano.
  8. Well, On the other side of that argument is living in a small town where everything closes at 6pm and isn't open on Sunday. I don't like paying twice as much for something I know I can get at WalMart. It's a 30 minute drive each way to the closest one for me. If you have ever needed to fix a toilet at 3 am or on Sunday, you'll be glad you have a WalMart near by. But congrats on the walk.
  9. Quick Story. On my way to Iraq I had to spend some time at Ft. Jackson (see avatar) Navy guys were there too. One of them had his bomb dog. Obviously he couldn't stay in the open bay barracks with his dog so he got to go to a motel. Upon checking into his room, the dog alerted near the door, as if explosives were present. They brought in the EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) guys and they tore the wall apart. You know what they found? In building the wall a Ramset was used. A Ramset is basically a .22 shell that sets nails into concrete. They left three empty .22 shells inside the wall and the dog smelled them.
  10. I've got their 00 buckshot. It's in a clear case so you can see the shot. Looks nice in a side saddle on a tactical 12 gauge Mossberg....
  11. TCA 39-17-1301 (17) “Switchblade knife†means any knife that has a blade which opens automatically by (A) Hand pressure applied to a button or other device in the handle; or (Operation of gravity or inertia. Butterfly knives work by gravity and or inertia and while not specifically being named in the above, how they operate is so the answer is yes.
  12. I have a BenchMade AutoStryker I got in Iraq. I would never carry it. Could you imagine getting caught/charged with carrying a switchblade and losing your HCP because of it? As stated before, not worth it / other options...
  13. It's very simple. You agree to the search by coming onto THEIR property. They make the rules. If you want to work there, you play by their rules, period. Just going onto Ft. Campbell, for example, makes you subject to a search any time an MP feels like doing it...
  14. Just a little humor while I canoe to work.
  15. I just got my permit. Could you elaborate on the "No Statement" card? I googled but that didn't work out so well... Also I can't find the site with the printable card. I'm useless... Thanks in Advance....
  16. Yer doin' it wrong. Evidently the way to get a 'yote is to go jogging with a Ruger LCP and a laser sight... Texas gov. shoots, kills 'wily' coyote during jog - Yahoo! News
  17. my wife left a plain envilope in our mailbox for someone to pick up later. she didn't pick it up before the mail person came. the mail person took the envilope with no markings on it at all. I received a "you have a postage due letter" notice. I went to post office Monday and sure enough it was my wife's envilope with my address written on it. the mail person said if I wanted it, I would have to pay $0.44. It was a check in the envilope so I mentioned that there was no postage or address on it because it wasn't being mailed. Evidently using your mailbox for anything but mail is "against the rules". So I paid the $0.44. She put a stamp in the center of the envilope, over the address and then post marked the stamp. I went to the dollar store and bought a box of envilopes. I'm going to put an empty unmarked envilope in my mail box everyday. Just to see how long they will keep sending me those notices, or tell me they will no longer deliver my mail. Look, ok, it might be against the rules to put an unmarked envilope in your mail box for someone to pick up later, but come on...seriously? You're going to take it, write my address on it and send me a notice? You can't figure out that a plain unmarked envilope in a mailbox might not be mail?
  18. CPD’s new Red-light camera enforcement program which started on May 1st, 2009 has captured 1,786 red-light violations. At that rate the program would be on track to issue 46,436 tickets, and bring in an estimated $2,321,800 in combined revenue for the City of Clarksville and their partner Redflex over the course of a year. If this really was about safety I would get points on my license. If you want and you have the money you can run every red light in Clarksville every day. Just pay the fine and no problem. And this is about safety? NOT!
  19. I haven't done the obligatory WWW yet either though I have been out in public. It doesn't seem to bother me. I guess carring a loaded M-16 for a year in Iraq numbs you to it? UPDATE: Obligatory WWW complete 4/28/10 9pm.
