    G19 question

300 rounds before I carry. with the issues that you have been having.... prolly 500.
  2. I'm not a big guy, 175lbs 5'10. I can CC a 1911 Commander (testing my glock 19 next week) without noticeably printing, but it's due to the great holster. My clothes aren't baggy and are mostly form fitting. Pocket carry and Concealed are a little different. My EDC is also a great range gun. It has to be. I need to be REALLY good with it as to make sure that I maintain full control of the firearm and it's actions in a situation where I am under extreme duress and imminent danger. my running gun (pt709) is also comfortable to shoot and conceal. In fact I use a belly band in the summer. I run with a group and no one has said anything or asked. One person knows, but I volunteered the info during a late night run in east Nashville. My advice, don't get something that you can't practice a lot with.
  3. Excellent shooting, How did you do your trigger job? You can just point me towards a video or website - I saw some guy with some fine sandpaper on youtube. I am wary about it.
  4. Hey, I think I get a pass on my second time in 10 years shooting a glock. Pretty funny still. Maybe I will get better with time.
  5. It's the photo. There is no slide wear. The barrel rifling had no wear on it. The gun was literally in immaculate condition. I bought from an FFL buddy who ordered some surplus in. Not sure how he wound up with a new Gen 2, but I don't care too much. If it is used, there was absolutely no sign what so ever of it ever being fired, carried or used.
  6. What any other red blooded American would do, I "borrowed" from my Christmas fund and bought it. My wife doesn't "need" that spa package. I needed this Glock. I know i have the Kimber, Rock Island, American Classic, Hi Point and Springfield, but this Glock filled a very crucial hole in my line up. So, the Glock was new (don't ask about the price, suffice to say - it was an offer that I could NOT pass up). photo[1] by kesavadevahari, on Flickr I promptly went to the new G&L in hendersonville (God help me, its too close) Fired off 6 boxes of mixed ammo, - 2 boxes of each -tulla -wolf -Monarch. Of course, the Glock treated the ammo like a fat kid treats cake. Trigger was a little more stout than my 1911's, but, I hear that I can get a lighter trigger. The recoil was supple, the accuracy was great. I know the pistol is way more accurate than I am with that weapon. Now, I love my 1911's for accuracy, recoil management, trigger, and bullet size. I have now fallen in love with the Glock for the simplicity, ruggedness, reliability, customizations available and capacity. Both are GREAT platforms. Both are VERY accurate and unrelievedly reliable. I didn't expect to like the Glock as much as I did. One question, Can someone direct me to the cookies? I heard that there are cookies... Two mags, as fast as I could shoot, 7 yards. photo by kesavadevahari, on Flickr

    So I am torn!

Good point. However, I do think that a stabilization period is less than 6 years out. You are correct, investing in firearms are a safe bet. The reliable ones will always have a value. The US $$ however, has been in flux. I would rather have $1000 worth of guns/gold/women then $1000 in USD as an investment. That's not due to our current spending as a union, however a symptom of a wasteful and unappreciative culture. Sorry I came off that way.
  8. yeah, I own a kimber but i LOVE my American Classic commander. I enjoy my springfield xd, but my hi point is just as awesome (though ugly). I think in these cases, you aren't going to loose much more than a look, badge and emblem over the Ruger/kel tec. for $200, it can be my back up to my back up to my back up. American Classic>Kimber>Hipoint>XD>Taurus-pt709>HellCat
  9. how are people going to know it's a glock?
  10. I will likely take over a CVS or Walgreens. It has food, drugs, Snuggies and it locks up tight with rooftop access. Not to mention, it will not be a hot spot. While everyone migrates to the walmart I will make my stand at a less likely place. besides, so many people will be taken out, I think that finding food after the first couple of weeks will be easy. Its the first two weeks that are going to be hell.
  11. WTB Glock 19 - Thanks David, there goes my x-mas budget!

    So I am torn!

Almost everyone likes to make irrelevant and incorrect politically biased comments... I say keep what you have. I LOVE my 1911 commander and wouldn't trade it for the world, but there is nothing like a bird in the hand.
  14. Taurus is actually fun to shoot. pf9 pinky grip fits on the mags. So easy to carry I forget I have it on me. Very nice ccw for summer and running. I dont regret that purchase at all. I have had a bunch of Taurus handguns and no issues to speak of.
  15. my rock island 1911 commander, and my american classic commander. I can shoot at a very brisk pace, and make one big hole.
  16. Your neighbor recently visited the Congo on a mission trip, works in a chem lab, came home with a fever, yada yada yada...bada bing- he's a running, killing, enraged zombie. He's just torn through the door to the room your in like it was card board. NOW QUICKLY- Look to your right, that is your weapon. Look to your left, that is your shield. What do you have? I have a pillow as my weapon and a remote my shield. /facepalm I'm pretty screwed.... Might need to prepare better.
  17. For me Of course in the car, in the closet on the nightstand Under the bed My wife doesn't like it, but sometimes the kitchen table. That's where i put my gun sometimes, But my friend has stowed away in hidden compartments all over the house. Hollowed books, magnetic bars under the coffee table, heck even a mounted functioning and loaded WWII 1911 in his office. He has two very polite puppies that keep any unwelcome visitors away. Do any of you have odd places that you do it?

    New?

I like the idea of picking them off at 100 yards with a .22 a few thousand rounds will last a little while. I am a 28 day later zombie kind of guy, they run, can't let them get too close.
  19. Stories? I don't have a story, just something that scared the living ***** out of me. I took a father/son field trip with my son's scout troop last year. One of the other boy's father was a bio-chemist working at Vanderbilt. Being sort a/ use-ta-be chemist myself, I asked him, "what specifically", and he replied Military Applications. He got my attention immediately. He could tell that I was interested so he continued. They develop lethal viruses, so that they can make anti-viruses from them should some other country develop and deploy them, we would already have a stock pile. One of which was the H2N2.... yep you heard me, H1N1's angry and deadlier older brother. Check this out Deadly Flu Strain Shipped Worldwide (washingtonpost.com) - Yep, I pee'd a little when I read it too. There are even deadlier strains of flu, there are combo's of viruses that piggy back on non matching viruses to survive. We talked for about an hour about my brief dive into chemistry for Coca Cola and then Proctor and Gamble. The conversation was great and very complementary, I had really found a friend with similar interest and could speak intelligently about a subject that I once had some much dedicated to. It was like running into an old buddy. So the ultimate question came up, I asked him "Have you seen 28 days later?" He had a very serious look in his eyes, his voice flattened from being very happy to speak and changed his engagement in the conversion. His body language shifted and his complexion shifted slightly. Even his resolve seemed to flicker as he uncrossed his legs and pulled the back of his fingers to to his lips. He responded "YES, it's the most terrifying movie ever." I didn't have to ask. He was clearly bothered by this so changed the subject as I likened the zombies to the roving droves of people to the sea of VOLs fans on game day, me being one of them. I went and bought more ammo the next day. There is a rage virus somewhere, Mix a little Borna virus and plague, sprinkle in some mad cow - Pie. Get a virus that degenerates the brain - logic, reason, civility, communication and inhibition - the brona virus, add in a feeling death, fear, extinction and terror - the plague, then top it off with the need to harm due to a chemcally induced severe schizo paranoia psychosis with action a'la mad cow and boom. A peace loving person who is hell bent on killing everything in sight. I hope you can sleep well after reading this, because after I realized this, I didn't for a few nights. I still have nightmares about meeting the chemist who had an infinitesimal chance of creating it.

    AR Pistol

Just get a .458 socom ar pistol.
  21. First hand experiences? I am very familiar with the platform and wouldn't mind concealing one either - If they are reliable and accurate.
  22. That could have ended VERY badly for the guy pointing the gun.

    Beck ralley

This might go in a different section. Not sure if it's related to handgun carry and self defense. Where as Glenn Beck is more entertainment than intellectual stimulation. He sure is making a butt load of money though.
