  1. Strel, where do you come up with this stuff?
  2. You probably cheated and read the survival guide
  3. You can make similar comments about driver's license testing. You see the results of that every day on the roads. You have people buying defensive handguns every day that have never seen a "real" gun until the day they walk out of the store with one. The quality of the instructors is a seperate issue. My guy was actually very good. I was in the class by myself, shooting a gun I have owned for 30 years, and still learned some stuff. Guess I better get back on topic now before fallguy thumps me on my noggin
  4. I know you have a lot of experience in this area, but you're kinda throwing away the concept of the "law abiding citizen". Personally, i can drive around all day with passengers that are drinking without touching the stuff. Nobody likes beer more than me. I don't want a DUI, or for that matter, any altercation with an LEO. With that said, I don't normally allow people to drink in my car. I don't want the hassle of an LEO having to sort it out in a routine stop. Liquor bottles are a whole other animal. Most aren't "one serving" containers.
  5. I think the cert class probably does a lot of good. I think we have way too many laws, but that one is a keeper.
  6. Good point, Mr. Bloomberg
  7. Does kinda sound that way. I carry a whiskey flask in my glove compartment frequently. Has nothing to do with drunk driving, but qualifies as an open container.
  8. I have a Double Star lower, and a half dozen or so PMAGS. Mine all drop out of the gun when I hit the button. Wasn't the case when I first assembled the lower. I was one turn too tight on the mag release button.
  9. I use a rest a lot (caldwell Rock and rear bag). I'm used to bulky. I've been using a piece of carry on luggage to hold all my crap. At Stones River, you gotta drag everything through the inspection hut. If I shot at a place like Southside all the time, I may not have spent the money.
  10. I have been making do. After reading this thread, I ordered the Midway bag.
  11. Same for Illinois
  12. Yep, made me hit the Magpul store today.
  13. Yep, she wears me out too
  14. Missouri laws in general are less goofy than Tennessee laws, especially liquor laws.
  15. Cool. You'll know what I meant by the time you get to the top. Nice view.
  16. Cabela's is a pretty good huff from downtown, but worth it. I agree with Warbird... West county is nice, but about 20 miles from downtown. It's 20 minutes when traffic is flowing. When it isn't, get out the ice pick
  17. Forest Park rocks. Due west of Union Station. The Arch sucks. Take an ice pick, so you can stab yourself in the face on the way up.
  18. You rang? It's a big area. The Union Station area is good, and close to the venue. You can stay at the Union Station Hotel, the Drury Inn next door, or the Hampton Inn a few blocks away. Book the room as soon as you can. I have stayed in Hampton more than the others. The Drury is a little nicer. BTW... lots of stuff to do in that area within walking distance. Soulard is a short ride.
  19. That's a good idea too. You don't have to give up much info to join, and can control what's seen. That way, you can keep a close eye on the situation.
  20. I haven't hunted in years because I've been a city dweller. I'm too lazy, and too short on time to overcome the hassle. When I lived in the woods, I hunted constantly. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll go. I'm certainly well equipped in the firearms department.
  21. I was gonna say... get it while you can
  22. "Vegetarian: Old Indian word for bad hunter"
  23. This. Too bad they outlawed ass whippin's. That's what's really needed in this case.
  24. Dumb question... are you using the little grip extension on the magazine? It's a snappy little gun. I'm sitting here with mine trying to visualize your problem. I haven't tried one-handed shooting with mine, but believe I could keep my thumb away from the make release WITH the extension.
  25. Good plan. The 18" cylinder bore on my 870 is kinda useless for anything except social work. I have another gun for the other stuff. But, if I was on a tighter budget, i would probably do the same thing.
