  1. What he said
  2. And, I ain't sayin' we shouldn't work on border security too. It just won't do it all. It's a political talking point, not a plan.
  3. Again... you can seal every crack in your house, or maybe not. The roaches won't come if there's no food.
  4. ... keeping in mind that the LAST thing to get fixed, if ever, will be the laws we're discussing here. We're blessed in this part of the country, but there are lots of gun hating idiots in the US. It would be a bloody battle. I don't see your basic DC politicians burning that much political capital for the sake of mail order guns.
  5. DIY bluing has come a long way over the years
  6. So you think federal firearms laws are gonna change because of trends?
  7. Uh... 'cause it's a condition of the license?
  8. You can't do direct distribution from off shore. Too expensive. The Chinese stuff is cheap because it crosses the ocean in bulk. It's a shame that Wall Street nearly destroyed US manufacturing, but US distribution will always thrive.
  9. I refuse to do it that way. I value good gun retailers. I don't get the absolute lowest price, but I'm always happy with my purchase. I buy a lot of accessories online, mostly at Midway, but that's a different deal. Even big storefronts can't stock that kind of inventory. Even with Midway, it's important to me that Larry is one of us.
  10. AFIK, you can do it without tanks, but it's not easy.
  11. You'll need to borrow RW's dies so you can afford to shoot more than one mag when you go to the range
  12. He meant brown oxide (aka rust bluing)? Harder to do than black oxide bluing, but some older guns were done that way.
  13. Looks like plain old blue to me. Hard to tell for sure from the pics.
  14. Yep, i love the mini, but can't complain about the AR platform either. I like to clean the spooge out of my action after I shoot it, but it's real easy to do. it's also a little easier to chase down the brass. The mini slings it into the next county sometimes.
  15. It's kinda the Mac vs PC deal (Mac the computer )
  16. You're special, Strel
  17. I have a bunch of promag 30 rounders for my .223 mini. haven't ever used one. They kinda came with the gun. I always use my Ruger mags.
  18. They have really improved the accuracy in their latest generation. My 16" mini has shot 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards. easily as accurate as my 16" AR. EDIT: I agree on the cost of mags.
  19. Yep, and he gets 1" groups at 300 yards with it
  20. They have a huge rabbit problem in Austrailia. Some idiots banned all the guns.
  21. It's reliable. Basically a Garand style action. There's a piston at the gas block that drives the operating rod, which drives the bolt. It doesn't blow gas directly into the action like an AR. I have had one problem with mine. In damp weather, the piston can glue itself to the operating rod if you don't clean it before you put it up. The stainless rifles don't have the problem. Takedown is simple. Unsnap the trigger guard, pull the trigger group out, and then remove the barreled action from the top of the stock. I like the AR platform a little better, but the mini is a good gun
  22. I'm going to. It will be awhile
  23. I tried to be thrifty. Didn't work. Wound up with a rifle I really like, and some stuff in a box . Next time, I'll need a smaller box.
  24. Didn't you say you were in a state where OC's were against the law? That may not count, since they were willfully violating the law when you caught them.
  25. I think you're being a little pessimistic. Some folks go out of their way to spend their money with local business, and for good reasons. Kids are kids, but they turn into adults.
