New to reloading. Thoughts and opinions needed and welcomed.

Here's how I break that down. First disregard tax, since you pay that plus some for factory ammo... 1) Powder: 7,000 grains per pound / cost per pound X grains per round = cost per round. I use 4.1 gr of Bullseye ($18) to load 115 gr bullets, so that's 1.05 cents/rd. 2) Bullets: I recently bought 1000 Berry's plated 115 gr round nose for $76 shipped, so that's 7.6 cents/rd. 3) Primers: I regularly find 1000 Winchester primers for around $38, so that's 3.8 cents/rd. 4) Brass: I saved up so much brass before I started loading that I ignore this cost, but you can buy 9mm for 4 cents/rd easy. So, you can reload a box of 9mm for $6.23 w/ your brass or $8.23 if you buy the brass. Hope that helps -

Iggy, I shoot and reload about 400-500 rounds of 9mm per month now. When I first started (just this past spring, I did exactly what you did...I asked the experts. Jonnin and Dolomite helped me out a lot! I can't thank them enough for answering all my questions so patiently. I paid it forward and helped a couple of friends out when they wanted to get started. Because we all shoot pistols primarily, my friends and I settle on turret presses. Personally, I went with the Lee deluxe turret kit (everything you need to get started for about $115). I'm very happy with it and have no doubt it'll hold up well for pistol rounds. I don't think it would hold up to long-term use with rifle rounds, though. One step up is the the Classic turret. It is much stronger and costs about $110-120 (press only). The best things about the Lee turrets: they are pretty darn fast at cranking out pistol rounds, can be had very inexpensively, and can be used as a single-stage by removing the indexing rod (best of both worlds). Here's some decent starter kits: https://kempfgunshop.com//index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=190&Itemid=41. -
I liked it too. The first sentence almost made me quit reading, but I'm glad I didn't. There was lots of spin, but it still had it's moments.

Great match! Awesome turnout! Fun course design! Thanks to everyone that came out. Thanks for everyone that helped us set up, break down, and paste/reset targets! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. -

Can I bring my Ruger Mark II and enter it as a 2nd gun in What's the Point? I don't want you to win uncontested!...although my shooting might count as uncontested, LOL. -

I don't have a choice. I only own 9mm or less handguns. A friend is bringing his compact .45. I can't wait to see how 2 vs 1 turns out. -
I don't like the idea of my employers being able to install a camera to watch me work, but I accept it as being within their right. That being said, I should only mind if I'm doing something wrong, right?

This whole story reeks of gov't bullying/corruption. The DOJ started all this to enforce an Indian law that protects its wood finishing union labor. Gibson imported 10 mm Rosewood and the foreign law states the "finished" wood must be 6 mm. This finishing (done in Madagascar) is ignored by other mfgs, including other guitar companies. The catch is that Gibson is the only non-union shop in the industry AND they're GOP supporters. How unabashedly unfair is that!?

I'm just sick of our gov't propping up initiatives like GW research et al. with money we don't have, just so lifelong congressmen can gain political favor, power, and money.

Besides ammo, holster, mag pouch, etc., I'd definitely water and a hand towel (wipe sweat/shooting glasses etc). Oh, and more ammo! I hope you make it out, you'll have a great time, guaranteed! -
Was it a 1911?

I'm SO ready to kill me some Zombies! -
Got kids? If not wait til you have dreams about all the ways you might screw that up. At least with most SD dreams, it's usually something out of your control or uncommon. To me it shows dedication and desire to do well/right. We all keep practicing, so we're as prepared as we can be. So it's only natural to worry about the things we can't control, even though everyone says not to do it. Too funny, Hipster! It would go bang AND it will hit what you aim at AND if you buy ammo with the money you save, it'll make you a better shooter

Nobody mentioned the best Zombie movie of all time...FIDO! "Timmy's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "FIDO" will rip your heart out." --IMDB

I think I found what you are looking for. LPA makes a dovetail adjustable rear sight to fit Glocks and others. When ordering you specify "Code 18" for white U-line sights. The item # is TPU32GL and here's the link: http://www.lpasights.com/catalog.html Hope that helps...good luck

Laserlyte is the only other mfg besides Glock I know of that uses the "U-shaped" bracket on the rear sight. If it helps, I have a set of Glock adjustable rear sights. BTW...I sent you a PM.

I'll lay down beside her and mourn when my ol' gal passes and I expect nothing less from her. That's what true best friends do.

Maybe this summer is busier than usual for them? I don't care, better late than never. We have to remedy that next year. Hopefully more help will be available.

I'm still a dyed-in-the-wool CZ guy, but this Glock is lighter and thinner. I may experiment with carrying it, who knows. It depends on whether I can grow to like this trigger enough. Having gotten used to the CZ triggers, which are IMO the best, this one feels weird. It feels like bending a plastic spoon...I keep anticipating the trigger break as I feel the pressure building, but it doesn't break very cleanly. It just kind of snaps then feels dead.

The movie "Red Dawn" always comes to mind when this topic comes up. Only in my version it's a bunch of us good ol' boys hollering "from my cold dead fingers" as we single handedly repell the invasion before the military can even get mobilized. Of course in the aftermath, the fine folks at Sam Adams and Yuengling are so grateful they become a non-profit and give us all the beer we want for life. Yep, that's the way it should go down alright.

I know people too stupid to raise kids, but we don't stop them from breeding. Is that even a protected right in the Constitution? I have power saws, a nail gun, and a few hammers in my garage. I've never received formal training with them and compared to many, I might seem less than proficient. Should I be denied the privilege of buying tools? I know they aren't as dangerous as a gun, but I still might hurt myself or someone else with them out of stupidity. In principle, I don't want idiots handling guns around me either, but I still don't advocate disarming them. I feel denying them the best possible means of self-defense merely because they lack proficiency is just wrong. I also don't think more laws requiring training are the answer either. At the end of the day, you gotta just accept the fact that you can't fix "stupid". I wasn't going to mention this, but where's my right to buy a fully auto M-16 or a grenade launcher gone? Our founding fathers intended us to have access to them as well. They were protecting our rights FROM THE NEWLY FORMED GOVERNEMENT (not our own stupidity). They viewed gov't as the enemy of our freedom. They envisioned us needing to overthrow the new government they were creating, if it became oppressive. How do we do that with the tools the current gov't is "allowing" us to own?
