    Glock Question

I cleaned all that off mine when I got it and lubed the slide rails with synthetic grease. 600-800 rounds later...clean as a whistle
  2. I had a bad experience with Classic Arms (http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/curio-relics-black-powder/59735-i-promised-folks-classic-arms.html). Maybe others had better luck, but I'll stick with J&G Sales and AIM Surplus.
  3. Lester has your answer on the nose. Weighing 10 charges to see the average is how I was taught. Even a cheap powder measure with the lowest bulk powder won't be off by an amount that would be dangerous. Then again, I'm just making plinking/target ammo or rounds that are just legal for matches.

Oh come on moonshine, you know the deal...post some pics or it didn't happen.
  5. Yeah, I got duped this past weekend. The RKShows.com site said there was one in M'boro Sept. 17 & 18. There was something else there this past weekend and a billboard nearby said Hendersonville (which matches what the Gun Shows USA site said). Today, the RK Shows site was updated to say Sept. 24 & 25 is the M'boro show, but Gun Shows USA says RK Shows is in Atlanta and Lexington. I don't know who to trust now and will likely stay home.

  7. I wanted a Cold Steel kneck knife, but was too cheap to come off the bucks. I settled for this little guy and it has sharpened up quite well for under $20. Of course the first thing I had to do was doll it up with 550 cord and a compass (in case I ever get lost on the way back from the grocery story). First thing I did was heat the kydex up a little bit and press it with the knife inside. I didn't wanna take a chance of it falling out and that helped. Of course that meant the breakaway connector didn't work as OhShoot said. It came un-snapped when I yanked the knife out. Not sure if you can tell in the photo, but the black paracord around the lanyard handle can be cinched up pretty tight against the handle. This acts a little like extending the handle, allowing me to wrap all 4 fingers around the handle and paracord together. My wife says I go over the top with paracord...is there a 12-step program?
  8. I understand some peoples' problems with exposure to liability/suit, but I couldn't live with myself if I didn't step in to help the victim here. If that poor girl ended up permanently disabled or dead because I stood idly by while 2 girls way bigger than her stomped her in the head like that, I'd never sleep restfully again. Maybe it's because I have a daughter about that age, who knows?, I warned my kids that there are people out there with no fear of consequences for their actions. They are the most dangerous people of all.
  9. Stage 1 and 4 look familiar...a chance for redemption? Hope I can make it, always good times!
  10. I called the Armory today to ask about Cerakote prices. They seem fairly reasonable, between $85 and $115 for a slide.
  11. Before reading this I'd have to admit that they'd have caught me off guard as well. Stereotypes and generalities can work both says, huh? However, in the meantime, I'll continue to rely on them for potentially credible threats and work on ignoring them for less obvious threats.
  12. Definitely a HUGE bonus about CHMR that I neglected to mention! Yeah, I believe Jeff Cooper would advise being in Code Orange when shooting there.

    P3AT?

I got my P-32 back when .380 ammo was so hard to come by. It continued to be cheaper to shoot it for years. It seems like now I find .380 more often and cheaper than I do .32 ammo. I've considered selling/trading several times, but the P-32 didn't take long to break in and had been utterly reliable ever since. What makes me even more wary about trading is the absolutely abysmal extraction problems I had with a TCP.
  14. I've only handled a few Sypercos and they felt well made. They're a bit too light for my taste and I also prefer a thumb stud. I'm more of a Benchmade guy, myself.
  15. I think politicians on both sides are morally debased; very few of them have any ideals that aren't for sale/rent. One of the TRUE crimes of the century!! I know they made millions, so they aren't priceless collectibles, but I'd love to have owned one of them. This kind of crap makes all of us who love guns cringe. There are tons of new weapons that can be had cheaper, destroying these accomplished nothing in the grand scheme of things.
  16. nothing to add, just waiting to BTT and see if you get any advice on where to get yours Cerakoted. I got a couple that need rebluing: Cerakote sounds like a smarter choice.

I have a Kel-Tec P-32 also. It's the smallest caliber I am willing to carry. I do love shooting 22 LR, though. What do you think about the Jennings, Lorcin, and Phoenix Arms? I hear bad things about them, but then again, I hear the same about Hi-Points and I know peoples' bad opinions of them is unwarranted. I assume you like yours...how's the accuracy and reliability? Is it easy to find extra mags?
  18. I have a membership at both too. I like certain things about both places. SRHEC is 10 minutes away and has MUCH better shooting positions. CHMR is less restrictive (still just as safe, though...imagine that) and more pleasant. My only gripe about CHMR is that it's hard to find all my brass and the 10 yd targets are on the ground. I shoot pistols mostly, so I like the target stands at SRHEC much better.
  19. I see the same guys hogging the counter too. Step one: remove the stools, so they have to stand to "hang out". Regardless, I find equipment and powder cheaper at RB than anywhere I've been so far. Primers and bullets...not so much.

    Gen 4 Glocks

I fired another 100 flawless rounds through my Gen 4 Glock 17 today. This gun is starting to grow on me. After doing a trigger job, it shoots much smoother...I bet it'll be real sweet when I put a 3.5# connector and stronger trigger spring in it.

    Gen 4 Glocks

I've been thinking about taking some lessons to help me learn how the bumpy thingies on top work for aiming.

    Gen 4 Glocks

I'm not a Glock fan, but I have a Gen 4 G17 and I used to have a Gen 3 G34. Neither gun EVER gave me a moment's trouble. I did have a squib recently, but that was my fault.
  23. How I knew they weren't REAL cops... When he turned around with siss-cotti hanging out of his mouth, I heard pistols cocking...real cops would already have their guns ready for action.
  24. IMHO, this is the best advice you've been given. Handguns are harder to learn to shoot well than a long gun. Buying a Ruger Mark I, II, or III is going to make you a better shot MUCH faster for 2 reasons: 1) EVERYONE flinches from the recoil when learning to shoot a handgun. With a .22 you don't learn this bad habit. 2) Ammo is dirt cheap, so you can practice 5 to 10 times as much for the same money. Plus, when you're ready to get a self-defense gun, you can sell the Ruger for nearly what you paid for it. Let me add, however, that a Hi-Point is not a bad first centerfire handgun. Mine is accurate, reliable, and comfortable to shoot...very ugly, though.
