  1. Just gotta ask... (1) Were you shooting towards the street? (2) How's your hearing?
  2. I think you'd have to be pretty lucky to get more than $450 out of it, and that you'll probably get a few offers for $400. The newer XDm is going for about $575-600, so I don't think you'll get any bites at that price range--as has been said, accessories are pretty much a write-off. Don't mean to be a downer, but that's just realistic. I've got four XD-45s, and the last two I picked up were $400 each. One of them even came with a trigger job from Springer Precision, heavy guide rod, XS Big Dot tritium sights, and six mags. I just think that the XDm line has really pushed the prices down for the older models.
  3. Wow...they're still around? A few years ago, there was a huge mess on another forum where the inventor was a member. Took a bunch of pre-orders, and ran into production problems, if I remember right. Seemed like a good idea, though, and I hope he's been able to get his business in order. ETA: Just looked at the web site, and it looks the same as it did back then. Including the backorder notice. I'm not sure if the site has been updated since 2006...

    New toy....SR1911

I look forward to seeing that thread! If this thing is as robust as some of Ruger's other stuff, it should be very forgiving of hot loads...
  5. This. I liked mine so much, I bought another one. And I'll probably pick up one or two more...
  6. I think monochromism is the point of the piece. The lack of contrast speaks to the ennui in the cultural milieu. Pent up anger and frustration finds its expression in the mechanism by which the medium finds itself splattered across the pockmarked canvas. It's very esoteric. This piece may sell for millions, someday. After the artist is dead, if course. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  7. Add to the list: Battery operated radio. We lost power around 6:30 pm, and didn't get it back until about 2:30 am. Inconveniently, my cell phone battery died around 7:00 pm. As a result, I had no idea how bad it really was out there. If I had known, I would have put myself and my kids down in the basement for the night. In retrospect, it's scary to think how lucky we were.

  9. It ought to be all of them. Their prices are usually the same everywhere. If not, then I was at the Walmart on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga. Amen, brother!
  10. I bought my first handgun (from a dealer, anyway), a Ruger P89 at Walmart. On the one hand, it would be nice to be able to buy guns there again. On the other, I kind of like having local gun shops to frequent. Meh...I'll be honest, here. I'll probably continue buying from online dealers, and paying my local guys for transfers and ammo, with the money I save on sales tax. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  11. Bought a 550 round box of Federal .22 last week at Wally World, and I'm pretty sure I paid $18+ for it. Standing in front of the ammo case right now, and it's $15.47 today. Same price for the Remington 550-round box. The Winchester 555 is $0.50 cents more. It also seems that the Winchester white box ammo in 9mm ($19.97/100) 38 Special +P JHP ( $18.97/50) and .45 ACP JHP (50/$19.97) have come down in price, too, but I'm not sure exactly how much. Surprised by this trend, but I hope it continues. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  12. Nick Rivers, hands down. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  13. This place was posted until 5 minutes ago. I spoke with the owner, and let her know I was sorry to see the sign, and that I wouldn't be able to have lunch there anymore. She said that she had been told that the sign (a simple "gunbuster" symbol) was mandatory because they sell wine. When I explained the actual requirements, I was surprised when she took my word for it, and peeled off the sticker right then. Anyway, I promised to come in for lunch again, and thought it would be good if some other TGO members could pay them a visit and thank them for de-posting. They're on Brainerd Road, near Moore Road. The food is good, and the prices are reasonable. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  14. Sorry, but I don't think we should be friends with people who would kidnap/tortue/kill others, even if we could be friends with them. If we have interests that compel us to deal with them, we should do so from a position of overwhelming strength and iron resolve--not bowing, or kneeling, or trying to win their approval by kissing their bums. And if they insist on holding some of our citizens corporately responsible for the actions of a few, then we ought to make it clear that we're willing to play by those rules, and play better than they can. If they pull a knife, we pull a gun. If they send some of ours to the hospital, we send some of theirs to the morgue. If they blow up a bomb that kills Americans, we bomb one of their villages, or cities, or countries off the face of the Earth, with no regard for their women, their children, or their animals. That's the Chicago way, right? You'd think Barry would understand that.
  15. Not to mention that when the Federal and state governments start losing revenue on gas taxes, they're going to find alternative ways to tax "alternative fuel vehicle" drivers. You will save zero dollars by switching to non-gas or hybrid vehicles. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  16. So, Patrick Henry had no right to say, "Give me liberty, or give me death"? Martin Luther King, Jr. had no right to speak out for black equality? Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  17. Of course, it won't surprise me when Ruger announces the first plastic-framed 1911... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  18. Oh, cool. I guess Fandango lied to me yesterday. I blame a liberal conspiracy... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  19. I'll probably have to Netflix it, since it isn't playing within 50 miles of Chattanooga. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  20. If you really feel like sharing, my address is 2564 Willow Street... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  21. I call fake. Unless the paragraph of safety warnings is on the other side of the slide... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  22. Sorry, I've already got two that way. Can't afford another. Best of luck finding her a good home, though.
  23. Now I know who's taking my brass. Just because I don't pick it up right away doesn't mean I'm not coming back for it. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
