  1. I'll see if I can dig up my copy...
  2. How to detail strip a Glock. http://lifelibertyetc.com/RangeBag/Video/glock_22_detail_strip.avi You'll need the DivX codec to watch it.
  3. DL'd. Thx.

    Bat removal

Got bats? Keep 'em. Not only do they provide excellent mosquito control, but their guano is a source for saltpeter. Add charcoal and sulfur, and you can make your own black powder.
  5. I still see a fair bit of it on the ground when I go to the range, if that's what you're talking about. Not nearly as much as before, of course. But often, it's enough to fill an AR mag. As for buying it from the stores, or from the internet? Everyone is out of stock, that I know of. I was able to find some a while back--unfired Guatemalan 5.56 brass--but the flash holes are smaller than standard, and that makes it hard to punch the primers out once you use them. I've been drilling them out one at a time, but it's tedious work. I'm frequently tempted to sell it, but won't until I find a source to replace it.
  6. Anyone remember, back in the 80's, sniglets? Words that don't exist, but ought to. One of them was "Riceroach." Defined as the commonly-found, unidentifable, blackened piece of something found in your cereal box. Unless it has identifiable body parts, toss it out or eat it, but don't make a big deal about it. I know the temptation to see it as a sugar-frosted lotto ticket might be great, but people who give in to the urge to make a BFD out of frivolous bull**** like this do harm to our society. Don't be one of them, please.
  7. Regarding #2: Getting the hell out of the stock market is, I think, a great idea. Keeping the cash in a savings account? Not so much. Stock values are likely to go down in the long term as the economy continues its downward spiral. Dollar values are likely to go down in the long term (and probably, the short term) as inflation/deflation kicks in. I'd put my money in tangibles that are unlikely to lose value, and are certain to never lose all their value: Gold, silver, lead and steel. Got a lot of guns and ammo? I don't consider them luxuries. I consider them, at worst, a hedge against inflation and a bear market; optimistically, a form of illiquid savings; and possibly a moderately-performing investment.
  8. Prices are getting better. But, oh, for the days when it was $89/1000...and the Norinco SKS was $75...
  9. Dude...first primers seen here in months, and you're wondering about prices? Seriously, though...I think they're $24 for a box of 1000. Don't hold me to that, as I didn't pay too much attention to the cost. As for the AW selection...I don't know. Guns will be out on the shelves tomorrow.
  10. Just left Sportsman's Warehouse about an hour ago. After my purchase (limited to two boxes), there were still over 50,000 small pistol (CCI 500) on the shelf, 1000 small rifle (Remington 6 1/2), and 1000 large rifle magnum (CCI...something50) primers on the shelf. Also, a few bricks of CCI Blazer .22, a bunch of assorted bullets and cases, and ~79 new guns in the back which will be on the shelves tomorrow. As a courtesy, please do not go to Sportsman's Warehouse until after 1:00 pm tomorrow, as I want another shot at that stuff. Hey, I'm tellin' you about it, so no cutting in front...
  11. Waaaaay too subtle, I guess. Perhaps I should have said the pink backstrap comes in three sizes..."C", "D" and "DD." Or maybe I should have posted them as a pair...
  12. Maybe I was being too subtle. Look again. (It is Photoshopped.)
  13. I'd bet money that this was one of the preliminary, but unfortunately rejected, designs...
  14. Dude, I feel so sorry for you.
  15. I used to like the idea of a red dot on a pistol. Years ago, I bought a Tasco Optima 2000 which, I think, is pretty much the same thing as the Docter sight. I mounted it on an H&K USP45. That thing was great in indoor lighting. In dim light, it was fantastic. In very bright sunlight, the dot was visible, but a bit washed out. But in the dark, surprisingly, it kind of sucked. If you were unable to see the gun, you could point it, but it might not be aligned with your eye. Because of the sight's small window, and because you're holding that window out at arm's length, there is a very narrow cone of visibility in which you are able to see the red dot. If your eye isn't within that cone, you have to wiggle the gun around until you find it. This may not seem like a big deal at the range, but if you find yourself in a situation where you have to be moving in the dark while pointing your pistol, it's trouble. Your eye will not stay within that cone of visibility while you move. Turning on a light, like a weapon-mounted flashlight, would help, but keeping that light on just so you can keep your sight picture could cause a different set of problems. Me? I eBayed the Tasco, put on a set of XS Big Dot 24/7s, and left the red dots to my long guns.
  16. It's a weapon. Of course it's "unsafe." Better, but still too many "weasel words."
  17. Okay, after you get yours, tell the rest of us where we can get some...
  18. I like the XD45 so much, I have three of them. Wait a sec...didn't I just post this... But yeah...two service, one tactical. I carry one OWB in a Serpa, and on me, it disappears under an untucked shirt. They've all been absolutely flawless in function with factory ammo, fit my hand very well, and are more accurate than I am.
  19. Whoops. Sorry about that. Couldn't check the link from work, and never bothered to check it after. Thanks!
  20. One of the best Freudian slips ever...
  21. If we eat Mexican, do we have to carry Mexican, too?
  22. The Glock 19 is, IMHO, the best all-around Glock. I like it so much that I own three of them. I'll probably get another one when the RTF becomes available.
  23. IT is still going to be big. They may be outsourcing tech support to India, but they're always going to need people here. And everyone's reliance on computers and networks in increasing, not decreasing. Skilled machinists are also in demand, although you may have to relocate to find the best jobs. And according to Forbes, the hardest job to fill in America is "Engineer." If you're willing to invest four years learning the maths and sciences, you'll be starting at six figures. As has been previously mentioned, give some serious thought to the .mil. You can get a damn good education and hands-on experience through the military, and it will look damn good on a resumé when you get out.
  24. Look, if he's posted improperly, go on in, order your meal, and halfway through, have your server inform management that you're carrying. If he boots you out, you don't have to pay. Whaddaya know...there IS such a thing as a free lunch...
  25. Very cool show. Thanks for posting that.
