  1. Possibly some cathartic news. Rumor has it that the perp took at least one round to the penis. Just drove past the area about an hour ago. They've got the whole block taped off, with multiple officers at each entrance. Couple of mobile crime scene vans, it looks like. And the parking lot lit up with portable lights. Are they seriously still working the crime scene, or are they just making a scene? I do sympathize with Sgt. Chapin's family--both kin, and professional--but it's Saturday night in a city that's been seeing a pretty high level of violence, lately. There's work to be done, gentlemen...
  2. I can't wear the 4-mag shoulder pouch. It interferes with the 8-gun holster vest I wear under my ballistic trench coat. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  3. Reveals are the best incandescents ever, and I'm stocking up. Have they always been made on China, though? Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  4. The ethical responsibility is not to own arms, but to defend what is right, promote the good, and protect the innocent. Those are one's obligations. Arms are simply tools which greatly facilitate meeting them. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  5. I've had a Beltman 1.75" bullhide belt without the stiffener for nearly 5 years. It's been worn almost daily since then, along with a Springfield Armory XD-45 in a Serpa holster. It's held up incredibly well, and I won't be surprised if I get another 5 years out of it. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  6. Walmart occasionally has Tula ammo, but I buy them out whenever I see it. Sorry.
  7. I've got a Droid X...I've had it for almost 9 months, now. Very happy with it. Wife got an iPhone 4 from Verizon a couple of days ago. So far she's complained that the screen is smaller, and it doesn't have voice recognition. But it has a much cuter case than my Droid X.
  8. I used to take my girls downtown almost every Saturday, where we would bike and hang out at the park and aquarium. Now that the whole damn area has been posted, we don't go there--and don’t spend money there--anymore. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  9. I look at improperly-posted places as trying to appease the ignorant, while winking at those who would know. I have no problem carrying there. On the other hand, if a place bothers to post properly, it's clear that they don't want my business. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  10. What is this "cleaning" you speak of? I've got several thousand rounds of bulk .22 through my MkII, and it's still shooting fine. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  11. The Sig 2022 is also inexpensive, and holds 15+1. I'm very happy with mine. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  12. Not to hijack the thread, but does this mean you have access to, or know how to make, DDT?
  13. I've been noticing the opposite around Chattanooga. More and more places with banners advertising Ethanol-free gasoline. Saw a new one in Cleveland just this week. Ethanol is, I think, on its way out. I've heard that government subsidies for it have been cut, the environmentalists are quietly pretending they never demanded it, and consumers hate it. Oh...if I have to pick date for $5 gas...I'll guess July 4, 2011. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  14. Dear God in Heaven...WE are supposed to the ones who will preserve liberty, justice and American exceptionalism for future generations? Not going to happen as long as we remain ignorant enough about science, economics and world events, that we believe in 200-mpg carbuerators, magical transmissions, the efficiency of electric vehicles, the exaggerated greed (and conspiracy theories rooted therein) of the oil companies, the beneficence of Hugo Chavez, and overlook the fact that Obama has shut down offshore drilling, sharply increased volatility in the Middle East, and the new supremacy of the Chinese auto market as factors in the rising prices at the pump. It's only 6AM, and already my head hurts... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  15. Watson will lose. I'd put money on it. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  16. Rave is the only theater I go to, in Chattanooga. It's not posted, that I've noticed. And I don't feel unsafe there, either.
  17. What I want to know about it is, is there anything in it that's inappropriate for 9- and 11-year olds?
  18. No, Punisher, homosexuals seducing each other through song, in public, probably won't affect your life very much. Nor, for that matter, would homosexuals fellating each other in public. How fortunate, then, that right and wrong are not determined by what is convenient for you. Besides, whatever your stance on the morality of homosexuality, the song makes no sense at all with two guys singing it. The entire premise of the song rests on an understanding of the fundamental differences between the sexual responses of normal males and females. Just in case you need it broken down, the male has satisfaction as his goal, is relentless in his pursuit of it, and is always ready to go. The female has far more complex ends, and takes into account a million different factors, in selecting whom she'll sleep with. Male + female = the lyrics work. Male + male = the lyrics are only believable if they're changed. "I really can't stay..." "But baby, it's cold outside..." "I've got to go away..." "Got time for a quickie?" "Always!" "I'll get the lotion..." Then the orchestra plays without vocal accompaniment for the remaining three and a half minutes. End of song. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  19. Love this song! They don't write 'em like that, anymore. Sigh...Marriage, the military, and now classical American music. Our culture is under attack. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  20. I've had several makes and models in the past, but don't currently own any. They're great guns, but they do require a bit more maintenance than the commander and full-sized models. Particularly, the recoil springs will need to be replaced every so often in order to ensure reliability. I'm not one to keep strict round counts, so I just replaced the springs whenever they started jamming. That ruled out their use as carry weapons, for me, so I let them go. Beautiful guns, though.
  21. When I was a member at Carter's (an indoor range in Chattanooga), I'd frequently be the only one there in the afternoons. I'd turn out the lights and shoot using either the light that seeped in under the door, or with a flashlight. One thing that I found is that I really like my night sights, with green front and orange rear. It helps me differentiate my front sight a lot faster.
  22. Read every word of each book to my kids before bed, over the course of six months or so. Excellent way to have some family bonding time.
  23. Most of my new gun purchases are from Bud's. Secondhand guns, I prefer F2F, or local shops. The only local shop I use has a range, and they get my money through membership fees, ammo and target sales, and transfer fees. If I decide that I'd like to take a chance on Taurus, I'll buy from a local big box store, because they'll eat the shipping fee if I need to send it in for service.
  24. I was about to ask you, "How'd you get the rear sight out with that itty bitty hammer?"
