  1. Pay the 50 extra for the 357 and you can practice with 38. I prefer the DA/SA as I would use the SA for target practice and DA for tactical practice. I went to Semi pistols but also have a couple of revolvers in 357 and a Judge in 45 LC/ 410. I also preferred the longer barrels in a revolver and the heaver frames over the pocket rockets with a 2 inch barrel or less.
  2. After seeing the after effects of a 22 short and attending the funeral I do not think a 9 mm is underpowered. I do not want to attempt a 44 mag any more but I can shoot as well with a 45 as I can with a 9 so I carry the 45 in situations where a 12 gauge is not proper to carry! I just do not think that carrying a 12 gauge with a pistol grip on a sling across my chest walking around town is a sociable activity. But then I may be wrong!
  3. Maybe a .223 /5.56 n bolt action or a Remington pump if you are familiar with pump actions. It is personal preference but I prefer a pump over a bolt as they shoot better than I can. The real paper punchers swear by the bolt action and at 35 to 45 cents a round for long distance shooting, over 100 yards, this may be the cheapest. For inside 100 then something in a 22 as a 10-22 is in that range along with a group of bolt action long guns. Ithink if you stay under the top dollar models most all 22s are in your price range. Stevens 4 + 1 223 Rem. w/Scope/Gray Synthetic Stock Just an entry level to get you hooked and make you want more. Then you want to step up to a 308 or even a .556 in semi auto such as an EBR.
  4. Would it be possible to have a benefactor who has a Pay Pal account provide the payment information if I gave them the cash. I do not use Paypal due to their conflict resolution procedures.
  5. Magiccarpet: I see no need to remove 2 to 4 inches from a PS90 and the FN fiveseven is only 6 inches shorter with a 6 inch barrel. The only difference would be a shoulder stock that the pistol configuration does not have and the pistol configuration at 24 inches or longer would be longer than removing 4 inches from a 26 inch PS90 so you would be breaking even with less control. I did put a new scope on the PS90 so we can test that next time.
  6. If he sells it here for a bit more than the dealer offered he walks away money ahead and can make a cash deal on what he is looking for. By the way, What are you looking for because someone here might have that available and you could always place a WTB add also? He did post on the WTS site.
  7. I did look into that before deciding what to build in 06 and I do have solar on my 5th wheel but it will not drive AC or the refrigerator so the fridge is gas and I was paying 40 a week or more for propane in Nov through April when the electricity was turned on here. The return on investment was negative according to average life expectancy for solar panels and storage batteries. I do use CFL and low energy appliances. I also went overboard on insulation because that cost is recoverable in 5 years or less.
  8. Thanks for bringing the reality point of view into this discussion. Wind and solar are anything but environmentally friendly. Nuclear is the most ECO friendly option that is currently available for electricity.
  9. My pusher put a Kimber in my hand and I now have 2 3 inch, a 4 inch and 2 5 inch models and the Glocks are in the safe. I am waiting for a specific configuration in 4 inch so I can have a six pack. My wife loves her Sig P239 in 40 but I am trying to get her to shoot a Crimson Ultra Carry II. I heard good things about the Sig P220 and being a Sig fan I am buying one soon.
  10. A motorcycle grip might work but I believe it may be to small for the buffer tube.
  11. I am in on the wanting to know what is for sale. I agree that it would be better to place the item on sale here first.
  12. That is one reason I traded in my Carbon 15 pistol and got a P556. I think I recall seeing foam buffer tubes but they did not enclose the end. Maybe have a leather or cloth cover sewn or dip it in the plastic handle material for tools a couple of times to build it up sort of like dipping a candle to make it larger. With the custom sewing job you could incorporate foam or some sort of padding but take care not to have it appear to be a stock of any type.

    Question

Try this: Weaver Mount Scope Base with 1" Rings Ruger Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk #301 Gloss - MidwayUSA Fits: Ruger Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk (except .357 Maximum caliber) Notes: Comes with two Weaver rings for 1" scopes. Measure .171" from base to scope tube. Attaches to the gun in front of the cylinder Mounting Hardware Included
  15. My pusher said to put a scout scope on the rail mid barrel and use my SASS for longer shots.
  16. Thanks guys! I just got an SA scout and was wondering about optics!
  17. That is one of the main disadvantages of the platform. I have yet to find a good optic that does not interfere with the magazine. I put a redfield 3X9 by 50 on my PS90 am am going to try a pistol scope on the AR57 tomorrow or the next day.
  18. Major Pain: That is the secret. If you know the GSO/ LGSO/ PSO you tend to get first dibs on good deals and first call when the latest GOTTA HAVE comes in if you displayed an interest in the item. My pesher and I have come to an agreement. I provide cash and he finds toys and that is working nicely but my experience with Pawn Shops has not been the best. The exception being one in Kentucky I will stop in again if I am going by to look at long guns. I need to add I have had the same experience with Local Gun Shops in different regions of E Tenn. But then I did not know the owner. There is always going to a gun show with someone who knows what to look for and how to deal.
  19. I agree that you should get an idea of what you want and post a WTB add or see if one is available. To find what you like hang around the local range or get together with a member and shoot theirs first. I can get a better price at my LGS on a good used gun than at a pawn shop and I know my Pusher has test fired it before offering it to me. For a revolver I would suggest a nice 357 in 4 or 6 inch barrel unless you will be carrying it concealed. With a 357 you can always shoot 38spcl
  20. Rogomay: Thanks for bringing that one up. I have placed my order for a Kimber Super Carry Pro II with my Pusher.
  21. I carried a Glock until my Pusher put a Kimber SIS in my hand which eventually lead to replacing my carry with the RCP along with a couple other versions of Kimbers.
  22. My current carry, a Kimber custom Ultra RCP II with CT grips.
  23. I will stay with those that do not see a need for a separate forum just for the AR platform.
  24. Here is a link to Mossberg barrels: O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. - Firearms, Shotguns, Rifles, Accessories, and Precision Machining If you get any 500, 590, or 835 then you can order the extra barrels to fit what you want to do and changing barrels is easy as loosening a screw and retightening it after the barrel is swapped out. The same goes for the Remington line. If recoil is an issue then you can get a Knoxx tactical stock that reduces most felt recoil. The Remingtons and Mossbergs have the most aftermarket accessories.
  25. I did but traded it for a Sig P556. I preferred not having the buffer tube and the longer barrel on the Sig.
