  1. Have to agree with TNHawk... After 30 years of avid 1911 shooting, I have seen the cost of getting started increase dramatically with inflation and grow with what the market will bear. Also, my basic choices of what I really want in a pistol changed over time. Comfort, reliability and best accuracy have become priorities over price. Other folks just like me have waited until saving enough money or the right deal comes along and will pay more to get what they want.
  2. So he's a slacker??
  3. AGREED!! Charlie runs the range very well. It is clean and pretty well kept. I've had some good times there. In fact, I need to re-up my dues. Hope I can make the shoot on the 20th. Sounds like fun. By the way, CHMR stands for Charlie Hafner Memorial Range after his father who started it years ago. The Owl Hollow bunch dropped the ball and Charlie picked it back up to make it work.
  4. They do... seems like they were $275 but what a combo!
  5. GREAT camo job!! Wish you was closer to mentor on painting my FNAR like that. Very nice.
  6. Wow... it's even got the horsey on it. I would like to see one to make sure it isn't just a Colt stamped Chiappa. Surely, they didn't. You'd think they would resurrect the old Ace kits.
  7. An absolute +1
  8. Like you, i been toying with the idea of converting a reg 1911 frame just for .22 plinking. Bad news is you can sink a LOT of money into a frame, nice internals and custom fitting a safe smooth lower before you even get the conversion to slap on top. Another downer is finding a .22 conversion that locks the slide back after the last shot. They don't all do that either. Not trying to be a buzz killer but that's why I'm still looking for alternatives.
  9. Have always heard great reports on the DW 1911s... I believe their prices went up to reflect their migration up to the next quality level. Bet before long they'll be putting cloverleafed 50 yard test targets in the box like Les Baer does. Congrats on the acquisition, Kano. You done good!!
  10. CONGRATS!!!
  11. That DW Valor looks to be a 5" and I have to say the last one I picked up was tight and felt right!! You will not go wrong with a Valor.
  12. Hey Mac, The Hero 1911 is surely available bobbed like a CBOB. When I was down there last they'd already done customs with that feature. Don't hurt to ask. Bet they have one on the shelf with your name on it.

    New Gun, Or Not?

CK1... a real shame u got a lemon on one of the finest pistols around. Don't let that deter you from trying another 1911 that likes you as much as you may like it. You'll know it when you hold it.
  14. AGREED!! Where's that ragged hole pic and a range report?? That little rain didn't slow ya' down did it?
  15. Very nice looking 45. Anxious for the range report.
  16. Excellent Range Report on the Hero Guns. I been waiting to hear the word on production pieces. May have to make another roundabout twards Winchester. Good work!!
  17. Cool.. Thought I was gonna have to go wink or something to get a better deal.

    Colt Defender .45

A recall of the Colt Defender is out there for the "Slide Lock Safety and the Recoil Spring Guide Pad". That would suck to get your piece and then have to send it off. Check out your serial numbers... http://www.coltsmfg.com/recall.aspx
