Get a Savage and don't look back. search for "savage" using my name and you will see a lot of reasons why you want to go with a savage. If you want to discuss it call me.

They actually have some of the lowest rates as far as what goes to those they are supposed to help. It started life with good intentions and then making money became their goal. I know it is a non profit but that just means their bank account is zero at the end of the year. Like a lot of non profits excess goes into paying salaries rather than into those they are helping. I do not support the WWP and will not. Plenty of other veteran organizations that actually give more. Look at all their legal fees from suing other organizations that are helping our veterans. You mention you help the wounded and they come after you. You have a black and white image of a soldier and they come after you. WWP has sued quite a few and I haven't really looked into it but I wonder home many of those they have sued had to close their doors over mounting legal fees.

Who does glass bedding and custom work in the East Tennessee area?
Dolomite_supafly replied to bigcdaddy's topic in Long Guns
If you can become a benefactor and make it to Knoxville I will help you do it for free. Just need to a lot about an hour to hang out with me while I help you do it. I really isn't that hard but I can show you how to do it on that gun. I figure the knowledge gained is worth the price of having a benefactor membership. -
And Dr Shankman at the Knoxville clinic is the nicest and best doctor I have seen in the 15 years I have been going there. Definately a change in the vibe of the place.

I haven't been asked lately but 4-5 years ago they asked me if I was sexually assaulted while in. I told them no and then they asked very specifically if I had been raped by my supervisor, like they knew something I didn't. I was making a joke about the guns question with all the letters apparently going out.

Fun times. We were waiting and another vet flipped his lid. Asked my wife for the time and then jumped up started ranting and raving. Then he threatened to kill the doctors. He was taken away.

Perhaps I should mention my silencers, stockpiles of ammunition and my strong dislike of people who ask too many questions.

Pretty sure the last one is from a diorama. Definitely not real. I can't wait to see what the VA has in store for me today. I get to get asked about why I feel the need to have guns, whether I was raped by my superiors while in service as well as why I prefer private care over VA care. Anytime you say anything even remotely outside their comfort zone they go on the offensive with threats. Maybe I will record today's visit for posterity. I wish I could just avoid the VA but the last time I tried to avoid them they said they would stop my VA benefits if I did not come in for my annual visits.

Subject Matter Experts! .223 Powder.
Dolomite_supafly replied to deafdogdief's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Are you running a powder baffle in your measure? That is essential for use with a powder measure. -
I said it as soon as I heard about it, there is a reason why real AKs do not have cast trunions.

Subject Matter Experts! .223 Powder.
Dolomite_supafly replied to deafdogdief's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Let me guess, your heavy Varget load is somewhere in the 24.5-24.7 range. I had an AR that would routinely shoot 1/2" using that recipe and 69 SMKs. I was working up loads for a bolt gun and decided to try the same loads in it. It resulted in .3" groups at 100 yards and enough .2" groups to know they were not flukes. If you can find some SMP842 I think you would be pleasantly surprised. Using that powder my SD numbers were unbelievable so I replaced the batteries in my chronograph, thinking it was broke, and shot another group with the same SD. The SD was either 2 or 1.73, can't remember which one but either one is pretty amazing. -
Loved shooting them.

No one wants to work any more. Got cash in hand and have contacted at least 15 companies to do various jobs around my house and I have had two show up. One was great the other was nothing more than a con man that decided to do 1/2 the job then change prices on me. When I refused to pay the upcharge he left the work he was supposed to do undone. So if anyone can recommend someone to grade about 12" off of a 30'x30' area I would appreciate it. I also need someone to build a 16x16 garage.

I told myself a long time ago when I go I want my body worn out with nothing to donate and I am way ahead of schedule. I do have regrets, plenty of them, but from now on I am not going to worry about what has happened or the consequences for what will happen. I am finally going to say fuck it and spend as much of my time enjoying life with those I cherish most, life is way too short. I have already lived, and lost, a few lifetimes worth of experiences. I have been married to the best wife, mother and friend on the planet for what will be 25 years in a few weeks. I have a son who is my hero. He joined in the midst of war and did so after watching everything that happened to me.

I hate Windows 10. When I got the opportunity I installed it on my desktop and my laptop. It drove me batshit crazy inside a week. I tried everything before formatting and reinstalling Windows 7. I bought a new machine for my wife and it has Windows 10 and from her corner I hear a constant diatribe regarding Windows 10. And we generally embrace change and technology but so far Windows 10 seems to be a monster. The worst part is any time I needed a program I had to search for it. Could not figure out how to get quick access to the programs I use regularly. I use notepad and paint almost daily and having to open Cortana then search for them is just too much of a waste of time for me. Another HUGE problem for us is the constant crashing. Even got to a point where I started saving things about 1/2 way through my day because I knew a crash was coming. I guess I need to suck it up and learn it but I won't as long as the MS special ops teams haven't raided my house and taken all my copies of Windows 7. For me Windows 7 was the last great MS product.

Need barrel counterboring or recessing work done
Dolomite_supafly replied to Patton's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I read an article by a prominent gun writer when I was young. He talked about have arthritis in his wrist and elbow. He then said he can tell you the day it happened. He said he was testing a new derringer in 444 Marlin for an article. He said after the first shot his elbow started hurting then after a few more his wrist. I could not imagine those things with a 357 Magnum. -
My wife and I have spent our entire lives worrying about tomorrow and doing the responsible thing. Well because of everything that has happened recently, as well as what is going to be happening, we have decided I am going to live a little. I have spent my entire life worrying but that is changing. My wife recently found out she is a diabetic. I have my health problems and have a hernia surgery a few days after my 25th wedding anniversary. I have other health issues that are creeping in as well as having survived several near death experiences. So because of all that has happened through my life and what is about to happen my new moto in life is You Only Live Once and so I am going to try to be a bit irresponsible until I leave this life.

There is but I hear Benghazi, the movie, is actually pretty good.

You could also load some ballistic apps on it and use it at the range.

What you should be doing is this. PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND MORE PRACTICE! Unload the gun and practice drawing, a lot. And do that for an hour a day every day for a week then at least once a week after that. A lot of muscle memory can be established without firing a single shot. Under stressful situations your body will do all kinds of silly stuff but if you have enough practice your body will default to the muscle memory. You may not be able to hear, have tunnelvision or freeze but if you practice enough to draw your gun and fire from muscle memory that will help combat that. It is not a bad idea to do some exercise to get your heart rate up either. Stress from exercise (I mean REAL exercise) is similar to the effects adrenaline has on the body. This is my normal practice routine at home. I will make sure the gun is unloaded and no ammunition is around (I am forgetful and recognize accidents do happen). Then I kind of meander in front of the television or talk to my wife. Then I make a mental note of a color. When someone on television is wearing the same color I draw and fire at that person. You normally get a few seconds before the camera goes to someone else so it does put a bit of a rush on you. It will show you if you have any fundamental flaws in how you carry or draw. And then when you think you have trained enough it is time to contact a professional to attend a class. Cool Hand Luke, Prag and Gotthegoods are all great people who are part of training people every week. It would not be wasted money to learn from them. And before anyone thinks the cost of a class is too much think about this. We all have insurance on our homes or cars in the event of something bad happening. Training is no different in that it is something you hope you never have to use but when you do you sure are glad you had it. And the knowledge you gain is something you will keep forever. That is something that no person can ever take from you. And finally how loud and obnoxious a trainer is does not relate to how good of a trainer someone is. I would rather have a calm professional than some drill sergeant jackwagon trying to belittle me after I have spent a lot of money. I would feel like a fool if I paid someone to abuse me. Great advice but I caution anyone against leaving booby traps to intentionally harm someone. You cannot injure someone just for coming onto your property and that is exactly what most booby-traps will do. Not to mention the risk to those I love. But if you injure someone intentionally with a booby trap you will likely be charged criminally and then sued.

Any retailers near Knoxville selling primers?
Dolomite_supafly replied to RAJBCPA's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
That was for the Remington Benchrest Primers if I remember correctly or maybe one of the other "premium" primers. I an a frugal person so if I can see myself buying them it wasn't outlandish on the price. -
Run some screws down in between the seams and see what happens. Just a couple over the course of the seam and see if it gets better. I fixed a few noisy spots that way.

I am going to call them today and see what they say. Who knows they might send me a set of elevated sights. I carried a full sized, all steel 1911 for years so any polymer gun will be lighter.
