  1. Gatlinburg is a pretty big attraction (along with the whole strip mall like county.) The roads are a pretty big draw too, I host a yearly event up US129, the section commonly known as The Dragon.
  2. Hatchet. As a kid I would live in the woods surrounding my house for weeks on end during the summer. Fishing pole, pocket folder, lighter (or matches) and a hatchet were all I needed to survive.
  3. Many years ago, when I had my last run in with a police officer, he gave me a very hard time about my tattoos. He told me that I would have a hard time in the world, looking the way I did. Being a Navy Brat and having lived all over the world, I informed him, that he was actually the first person to give me a hard time about them. I don't think he liked that. Realistically, 90% of the time, I blend mostly in with the rest of society. Camouflage you know. Anyways, since I am completely new at this, and I don't know any of you, what is the best way to figure out who is who? Is there a set time or booth or such where we can gravitate toward? Otherwise just wandering up to random folks and going 'Contact?' is good enough for me.
  4. Pretty much. I will however be leaving my wife and daughter at home. Regardless of how much my daughter loves gunstores.
  5. What more would you expect from a guy that wears a straw cowboy hat and has Zulu spear Chucker hunks of bone through his ears?
  6. Concern is different than fear. It is mildly similar to interest, but with a little bit of observation mixed in. Fear would denote a complete lack of desire to interact.
  7. I didn't take it personal. I took it as a joke, so it is all good. I am pretty easy going. It takes a lot to get me riled. If I had been upset, I wouldn't have responded. I have been communicating via chat forums for a long time (I am an admin on a car related forum) and one thing I have learned is that text doesn't always convey the proper context for a joke or a tease. As such, I take everything as a joke until it is made clear it is serious. You will find I am really easy to get along with. As for what it is inside... well... My wife and my daughter think I am a good person, so that has to count for something. However, all my coworkers hate me and wish I would die in a fire. I guess that means I am competent.
  8. I hope not, I don't think my wife would understand. It is funny though, I am too punk for the rednecks and to redneck for the punks. Thankfully I am at the age where I don't care anymore.
  9. They aren't even at a gauge anymore. I have 9/16" chunks of buffalo bone through them right now. Upper management loves me at work. I have lost count of how many promotions I have lost because of them. At least the tattoos can be covered with long sleeves and a collar. The hair could be cut off. I drew the lines at the earrings though. I just can't sell out all the way.
  10. I am pretty easy to recognize, tattoos and massive holes in my ears. I will most likely be in a straw cowboy hat and boots.
  11. I guess I will probably show up, even though I won't know any of you.
  12. I would so vote for Uncle Ted.
  13. After all that work to get his wife to warm up to firearms, then throw it all away over a joke... I laughed, don't get me wrong. But I wouldn't have done that.
  14. A buddy of mine bought a Glock 30 for his first pistol. I really like it. I have been thinking about getting a 21, as I would prefer a bit more grip, as I have big mitts. I would have bought it.
  15. I feel fortunate to been in Knoxville. My thoughts and prayers go out to all that were affected by this. This did however open my wife's eyes to the need of preparation, and has as such modified her standard answer of 'No!' whenever I suggested stockpiling food and supplies.

    PAINTBALL

I used to play Airsoft, it was fun. I haven't done anything Paintball wise other than a few informal games when I was younger. I have several co-workers interested in playing Paintball, and we have been trying to find a place, but we don't have any equipment.
  17. I wouldn't sell an inherited gun. You can never get something like that back. Just my opinion.
  18. I have the KCI mags for my Glock (19) and they have worked flawlessly for me. I find that the 17 and 19 mags are the same price. I want some of the 33rd mags though, it would be nice at the range.
  19. Find a used Glock? You could also pick up an FM Argentine Hi-power. I have been contemplating a purchase from J&G Sales, as they have them for $300 and I have yet to hear a valid complaint. There are several reports of the front sight popping off of them, but after investigation, I learned it was the same guy posting a dozen times about it. I have never fired a Ruger semi-auto, or a Bersa, but I have heard great things about them.

    AR-15???

I am pretty sure I had read that somewhere, I may have gotten it backwards then. I was investigating the two very closely before I made up my mind that the S&W was teh better choice.
  21. Looks like I might get a membership at the end of next month then, where do I go to get it? I don't even know where the range is located other than Norris. It is my understanding you go somewhere else to get the key or such and the range is just gated?
  22. What does it take to become a member at Norris? I have heard of the range several times, but I have never been there.
