  1. It is peaceful out there. Once you ignore my mother. It will give you a place to shoot that shotgun you have been hanging on to for ages as well.
  2. Doofus. We can go to my property in Tellico and shoot, but it is a bit of a drive.
  3. Iron Maiden is the most underrated Heavy Metal band of all time. The thing that never fails to amaze me is that they became so popular without the benefit of commercial radio play or music videos. I love Maiden.
  4. Cake- Fashion Nugget Metallica- Master of Puppets Metallica- Ride the Lightning Metallica- ...And Justice for All Rush- 2112 Rush- Moving Pictures Heart- Little Queen Chevelle- Wonder What's Next Big & Rich- Horse of a Different Color Eminem- The Marshall Mathers LP
  5. It makes my radar detector go apenuts every day, right at the Cedar Bluff exit and the Walker Springs exit. I also use the Smartway website to help route trucks to ensure they miss traffic jams and/or wrecks. And I watched the repair on the Dragon from the rockslide because of it. Not that I am a fan of Big Brother... but if he lets me watch over his shoulder, I will.
  6. Yes, but the Stan Lee show on History, Superhuman, had a segment with Bob Munden, and he performed the same stunt. He has aged a bit, and is more demure now, but still just as fast.
  7. I have shot a RIA 1911 in .45ACP and I liked it, especially at the price. I haven't ever felt a particular need for a 1911, but for some reason after handling the RIA, I felt the itch. The big question I have had at that point is do I want the 9mm, or the .45? Logic would say that if I were to buy a 1911, and my first one at that, I should get in in .45ACP of course. However, the thousands upon thousands of rounds of 9mm I may or may not have in my closet suggest that 9mm might be more fitting to what I truly want. And the debate continues in my head.
  8. I wouldn't mind having a carbine. However the pistols are too ugly for me to ever get past. I don't care how good of a reputation they have for accuracy and ruggedness. They are just too buggered ugly. It took me over a year of contemplating and then another year of owning to get over how ugly a Glock is. I don't think I could get to the point of liking a Hi Point pistol.
  9. I have a Jennings .380. Guy at work gave it to me cause he knew I was a gun guy. I happened to have several boxes of .380, so I took it. I have put about 100 rounds through it and it fires. At least once. The darn thing stovepipes nearly every shot. Every other shot if I am lucky. While I don't personally bestow the 'pot metal in your eye' reputation on them, I can not with a clear conscience recommend one for anything other than an 'I don't have a gun and this is all I can afford.' And even then, I don't suggest it if you think you are gonna need a second shot in a timely manner.
  10. I have seen several Munden videos. He is good. He comes across very... smug. It is just a show from what I understand, he didn't seem so smug on the show last night. He can back it up though. For a showman though, I prefer Tom Knapp. He is a showman, and not smug.
  11. Bugger it. I want one. I have been lying to myself and saying I don't, but I do.
  12. Fail. I want a print if that for my office.
  13. Same. It always messes with me.
  14. I like CTD. If they have what I want for what I am willing to pay for it, I order it. They have always been good to me. They ship fast and everything works as advertised. Plus, they have those cheap Korean mags for my Glock at $5 a piece. That is lower than anyone else. I like the mags, they are good for kicking around and they have been reliable for me. I like Cabela's too. If they have what I want for what I am willing to pay, I order. I get most of my BP stuff from them because they are cheaper than nearly anywhere else. I haven't tried MidwayUSA or Bushnell's yet. I keep meaning too, but I haven't found anything I need that they have. I always search prices when I find what I want, and I account for shipping, stock on hand, price and customer service. All four of those are a factor. I don't always buy from the cheapest if I am gonna have to wait, or the CS sucks. All in all though, if CTD has what you want, they are good to go.
  15. I found it interesting that the two finalists were not 'professional' shooters so to speak. I was impressed overall at the level of maturity in the finalists. No crying, screaming or fit throwing. They shook hands and walked away happy for their competitors. All in all I felt it was a good showing for gun enthusiasts everywhere.
  16. There are differences between speakers. Infinity all the way in my opinion. If you just want sound, any speaker will do in a pinch. If you want quality sound, you want a quality speaker. I despise Pioneer speakers, yet I love their head units. If you are just going for stock replacement, it isn't really going to matter, not as much as if you were building a comp system. Bang for the buck, I have to say Polk. I don't care much for many of the name brands, it seems to me that over the past several years they have been counting on their names to sell stuff, as opposed to quality or innovation. If you want really good stuff though, there are few better than Infinity. The better ones are the boutique brands that you only find in specialty shops. I only use Infinity.
  17. The finish looks good. The pattern is nice. I just don't like it. I can't put my finger on it, and that is not a negative comment on what you have done. There is just something about it that lacks definition now. I understand that is what you were going for, and great job at it. I just don't care for it.
  18. Yeah, it would be better if it were a light gun.
  19. Thank you guys for the advice. I am just trying to make sure that something like this doesn't mess him up for the rest of his life. If he is responsible for one of her children, so be it. But he is not responsible for both of them. He is not her meal ticket for the next 18 years.
  20. I know a young man. He is mentally challenged. He collects benefits from the government and is incapable of holding a job. He recently got involved with a girl who thought he would be a good meal ticket. She was at the time pregnant, not by him, and got involved in a relationship with him. The young man left home, ignored all of his friends and family and ran off with the first piece of tail he ever got. Fast forward a year. The girl has given birth to her child, convinced this young man to put his name on the birth certificate as the father and is now knocked up again. This time odds are fair that it is indeed this young man's child. She then leaves him, kicks him out of their house, of which his name is on the lease and tells him to stay away. Now, being concerned about this young man, who is now out of doors you know, and most likely soon to be hit with a double whammy of a child support claim, I am wondering what his options are? Surely there must be some? He is on an extremely limited budget, maybe $650 a month and is unable to hold a job. He is mildly mentally retarded, maybe borderline intellectually functional. Right now I want to get him his possessions back. I believe the safest way would be to involve the police. The young lady's step father is physically abusive to this young man, and he will surely be present. That is not a situation I want to implicate myself in. Does anyone know what kind of lawyer I would be looking for? If there are any grants or other ways to supplement hiring said lawyer? I have to pursue this matter. Legally. No backwoods justice. I don't want to be involved in this frankly, but he is my baby brother. Thanks guys.
  21. When my wife first heard the Rodney Atkins song Cleaning This Gun (Come on in Boy) she told me she thought of me and how I would deal with my daughter's suitors. It won't be pretty. I just hope that I raise her right. And I pray to god she never brings a boy home that reminds me of me at that age. As for my wife's family, her mother can't stand me, and the feeling is mutual (who does like their mother-in-law?) However; her father and I get along famously and have massive amounts in common, from work ethics to politics. I think I may even win him over on gun ownership. He isn't anti-gun, he just doesn't own any.
  22. That is pretty much how it is. However, outsiders are rarely accepted unless they have proven their mettle a time or two. I haven't been in Farnsworth's Pawn in 20 years or so. I don't remember foul attitudes or anything. It was just too long ago to remember anything. I grew up in Tellico Plains/Coker Creek, which is very far back in the woods. It was a lot better. A fight solved problems, and when it was over, it was over. Sure, maybe those of us that remember those times and grew up in them are just nostalgic for what it was, but it honestly was better than what I see happening daily here in the city.
  23. There is the Sterling, like posted above as well as the Suomi. They are both in 9mm, and you can even get the Sterling in 7.62x25mm. However, those aren't really pistol caliber tactical rifles. There aren't really a lot other than 9mm conversion ARs. However, if you wanted to stay with .22LR the choices are immense. If you want a pistol caliber rifle, taking the tactical out of the equation, there are lots of choices. Hipoint carbines, Beretta Carbines, Kel Tec Sub2000, Glock carbine conversions (there are at least two, I think there might be more) as well as your more traditional Marlin Camp 9 or the Ruger 9mm carbine.
