  1. That will make a great concealment option, kind of reminds me of the Joker's pistol from the Michael Keaton batman that he uses to shoot down the batwing. Which only adds to the awesomeness of it. Congrats.
  2. I would buy an 11th magazine. Because after you burn through the 10 mags killing all the Russian frogmen you will be kicking yourself for not having 11. Honestly though not much needed already a great gun.

    Glocks

I have a few myself. Also looking at adding a full-size gen4 in the future. I am one of the ones that love the gen4 despite the growing pains. Glad you are enjoying yours.
  4. Thanks for the answers everybody. I polished the ramp and hand racked a mag through it with no issues. I think I am just going to go with not reusing any rounds. Though that will get expensive, so I will probably leave it cocked and locked a lot more at home.
  5. I think you would be better served by either a g19 or g30sf. I think they are a little more versatile. I had the g36 and did have some feeding issues. It did shoot well though other that a few failure to feeds here and there. I do not shoot competitions but would think you might want the extra capacity of the g19. I am a thin guy and wear tighter t-shirts but found the g36 not to be that much of a advantage in concealability. I'm a lefty too so I favor gen4s.
  6. Thanks everyone. And a special thanks to Dolomite, your responses always seem well thought out and informative. Don't worry I'm not the type that would sue for something I did to my gun because of advise you give. I am a huge believer in personal responsibility.
  7. Ok. I just didn't know if setback after 5 chamberings was normal it seemed low to me. None of my glocks do this and this is my first 1911.
  8. Yeah, I don't keep it cocked and locked at the house because my primary is my glock. But every now and then it makes it in my rotation so I chamber a round. After about 5 chamberings of the round I get noticeable bullet set back. One chambering shows no bullet setback it takes about 5 to be noticeable.
  9. Thanks for the advise. I might have some funds freed up after Christmas. Here's the million dollar question, should I keep the 1911 and get a glock 35 or trade the 1911 with the money I would use on the glock 35 and get a higher end 1911? What would be the most reliable 1k or under 1911? I have a glock 19 and 22. Or option c, use the money to fix this problem? Sorry for all the questions.
  10. Yeah I can't bring myself to get rid of it. It is incredibly accurate and been rock solid reliable. Now if I could get a higher end 1911 I would but I have no funds for that.
  11. Thanks guys. I won't be able to post picks till tommorow. How much does it cost to get a barrel throated? Also it doesn't seem noticeable until after about 5 chamberings and seems more noticeable with hollowpoints than ball. I do rotate the ammo about every week thats when I noticed it. The ramp is polished but I think you all might be right about it catching on the top of the barrel. The gun is a single stack para ssp. I hate this because the gun runs 100 percent.
  12. I have a 1911 that I have noticed is pushing the bullet back in the casing. It is also slightly crushing the hollowpoint. I leave the pistol loaded chamber empty then chamber a round when I carry it. The ammo is hornady tap. I do have a ramped barrel. Question is what is causing this and how do I fix it? Also what problems can this cause? The pistol functions flawlessly. Thanks for the help.
  13. Thanks. I have medium to small hands. On the down side I now have one more pistol to consider. I already have a g19 so I don't know if I can justify another compact 9mm. Decisions decisions. I kind of need a hicap combat pistol.
  14. Very nice! What trigger variant does the sk have? Also just curious do you still get a full grip or does your pinky hang off? I have not handled one before but am scouting for another pistol soon but prefer all fingers on the pistol. I love it though so congrats.
  15. Nice 1911! If I ever get another it will probably be a sig tacops. Don't worry about sig 1911 haters, I have a para and there are alot of para haters too. If it shoots good and you like it who cares what others say about it. I have noticed in the 1911 world there is alot of brand bashing. Don't worry and enjoy your sexy new 1911.
  16. They all look good. Here are mine that I also got today. Sorry the pics are from my phone.

    VZ Black Friday sale?

Code worked for me too. Order some aliens in hyena brown for my black para ssp. Can't wait to get them.
  18. Also I have shot rock islands and they seem good too. A little looser than my para but went bang everytime. You will probably be served well by either. All I've shot is ball in both as I carry a g19 so haven't tested the 1911 for carry yet with hollowpoints.
  19. I have the Para SSP in covert black. Several hundred rounds so far and no problems. Finish seems a bit easy to wear but I kind of like the broke in look. Plus it will give me an excuse to cerakote it fde once it's completely worn out. If you get stainless you won't have that issue.
  20. I have a S&W M&P15 tactical with an acog on top. It is an outstanding weapon and I think you would be happy. If your not building one I think smith is a good place to start brand wise.
  21. Agreed with the M&P, and I don't prefer lanyards. Just offering my two cents on lanyards in general. I always found my lanyard caught on everything, especially getting in and out of a vehicle.
  22. I know everybody hates on the lanyard. And I don't like them on my weapons either. But on the other hand I have seen more than one Soldier down range that would have lost a M9 if they hadn't noticed it dragging. Not saying there are not other solutions but some people need to have a lanyard (especially in the Soldier world where there are all types of folks). I know if I was riding on a ATV all day I would be paranoid about loosing a weapon, still doubt I would have a lanyard.
  23. I was very skeptical of the AFG because I thought it was the flavor of the month. But I got one as a gift and tried it out, now I love it. I was running a VFG but will probably not go back. I feel like I have more control with my thumb more on top pointing forward. The first few times it felt weird but it is a training thing and eventually feels more natural, to me anyway.
  24. I'm a lefty and have shot ARs for several years and as long as it is not a slick side I have not had a reoccurring problem with brass hitting my face. I have had a random one here or there go down my shirt. The only thing that has been a reoccurring problem for me would be inhaling the gases or a freshly oiled gun throwing oil in my face. This was a larger problem when I was in the Army and they would just hose down your weapon with CLP in a spray bottle. The only thing I can say is find a good pair of eye pro and wear a hat, that might help protect some of your face.

    Gen 4 Glocks

I have an early Glock 19 Gen4 and had problems initially (Would not cycle WWB, 1 malfunction per mag on average). Got the new spring from glock and have had zero malfunctions since. Probably 300-400 rounds on the new spring. I would not hesitate to buy another now. Though I do miss my M&Ps, but I miss every gun I get rid of.
