  1. Has anyone used these before, how is the quality? I just kind of jumped on board based on my desperate need of bcg and the other members who ordered. I assume they are good to go based on specs.
  2. Lol, yeah the 18volt battery powers the optic through a Magpul adapter (they make everything). A little heavy but provides a nuclear glow for those really sunny days. Beater AR was probably a poor choice of words. I really meant that this rifle gets beat on a lot, it's been a great rifle. M&P15t I got back in I think 2007, it has been through a lot. I in no way meant it was of poor quality, the M&P line rifles are what I always recommend when people ask me. Oh forgot to mention I used Krylon as a generic term, I actually used Rustoleum camo paint.
  3. Major Kong - Leupold Mark AR mod 1 1.5-4x spr reticle green. Nice for the price point of just under $400. Thanks for the comments!
  4. So made the jump and sprayed one of my ARs flat khaki and flat dark forest green. The green looks more grey/green than green which I like. I know some don't like krylon on guns but this is kind of a beater AR so figured I would try something different. Considering I've never painted anything in my life I am pretty happy with how it turned out. This gun will never be sold so figured I didn't have to worry about resale value.

    SBR?????

Do I technically own stock in this since I bought your lower reciever? If so I will gladly settle on possession every other week. It's only fair. Congrats on the nice rifle.
  6. I had one but it mutated! Fun as a pistol, perfect as a sbr. Mine started as a Yugo M92 PAP which I believe is what you linked. Excellent quality in my opinion but I'm not an AK expert. I kind of wish I had gotten the 5.56 version due to all my other rifles being 5.56 but figured ballistics of 7.62 out of that length barrel would be better. Also figured my only AK should be 7.62
  7. Yup, that is the mount from our M68s DMark. Good to here your sons success with the Pro. That was my concern was the mounts ability to withstand bouncing around the patrol car.
  8. DMark, I agree they can take a beating. No one in the 15 months I was in Iraq had a single issue ever, but I for the life of me couldn't remember what mounts we had. I carried an Acog so didn't really pay attention to what mounts were on the Aimpoints. Tdoccrossvilletn, I can't speak from firsthand experience but I would think you would want an extremely low mount if you were going to put it on an AK. Probably still wouldn't cowitness. Optic would work fine though. Again I'm speculating and I'm sure someone else will chime in that has done it.
  9. Good to know thanks! No plans to change mount unless necessary.
  10. So I just bought an Aimpoint Pro as a interim replacement for my Trijicon SRS that went down. I currently am running a Leupold Mark AR mod 1 but still needed a red dot for another build. Pretty excited about the Pro and given the price of $365 plus free shipping I feel I got a fair deal. What are the opinions of the factory mount that it comes with from guys on here that have used one? It's funny that the Pro cost almost $500 less than the SRS and will probably serve me better, live and learn I guess.
  11. I'm running the Geissele SD-C on my 11.5" and pretty impressed. I really like the flat bow. I will probably get the SD-E for my 16" scoped AR soon.
  12. I couldn't find them in the website. Might have to get one if someone can link it.
  13. So I normally don't post reviews on TGO so I apologize if I'm a bit all over the place with my format.      I picked up a Trijicon SRS02 back in April after selling off an TA31 ACOG which I very much loved.  My needs had changed and I really wanted a dedicated cqb optic for work, I am a Police Officer.  At the time there was not a lot of information on the SRS but I figured Trijicon had served me well for the past few years with the ACOG on my duty rifle as well as in Iraq (10th MTN) using another ACOG.  So when the SRS showed up at my door I was instantly excited.  Here is my impressions: Some good, some critically bad.   Upon initial inspection I noted the FOV is excellent.  I have used H1/T1s, M68s, and Acogs.  Of the group I feel the fastest with the SRS.  There is no tube effect, shooting both eyes open is easy, and the dot was small (1.75) and crisp.  The glass also appeared flawless as most Trijicon glass does.  I used this optic in a Gunsite carbine course and really found snap shooting to be a breeze.  However, the problem that seems to be prevalent in most other reviews of the circuit board being projected onto the reticle did occur.  When it did occur it was bright enough to obscure the red dot and render the optic useless.  Research led me to the killflash to fix the issue, which I purchased for an insane amount of money (I think $75-85) given the price of the optic at around $850.  This did fix the issue and I could not get the circuit board to interfere at all, but now that crystal clear glass is a screen door.  I got over this and tried to stay optimistic because I really forget the killflash is there when shooting.   The weight and size people generally complain about does not bother me.  I generally prefer full size optics and that is what I compare this against.  It does appear really big in pictures online but I think it has to do with the mount that came with it and the size of the objective lens.  I will concede it is on the heavier side but not absurd.  When holding the optic it feels built like a tank and leads me to believe the housing is indestructible much like an ACOG.   The next issue arose when the optic was dead when I pulled it out of my bag day 3 of training.  I figured no big deal it must have been an old battery Trijicon sent me, so I threw in a new battery and went back to training thinking all is well.  However, two days later that battery was dead.  The manual says approximately 3 years on battery alone.  I was averaging 3 days, a little short of their estimate.  So I threw in another battery and figured I will just keep the optic off when not in use, not optimal but doable.  I thought this was working, but I have since pulled the optic out and it was dead despite being left off in a gun case.  So, this last week I was qualifying some Officers on handguns and decided to check my zero.  What do you know the optic was dead.  So I put in another new battery as I have learned to keep a large stock of them with me.  I started checking my zero and the optic went out.  I pushed the buttons and it came back on.  Then a few shots later went off again and would not come back on.  Put in a new battery and started working again but then shut off but automatically came back on once more during recoil.  Needless to say this is unacceptable for an optic that someone is trusting their life to and for an optic in this price range.  My Primary Arms MD-06 has been more reliable and I bought it just for a range gun.   In conclusion the optic is on its way to the Trijicon factory as we speak.  I requested a refund or exchange for another product as I have no faith in the SRS, which I doubt Trijicon will go for.  It is a shame because I really wanted to like the optic, I am a Trijicon fanboy at heart (although now just an ACOG fanboy).  If it was reliable I would much prefer it over full size Aimpoints and ACOGs for my current needs.  I most likely will get an Aimpoint Pro because given the amount of money I sunk into the SRS I cannot afford to replace it with the ACOG I sold to get it.  In a perfect world I would have the ACOG Ecos in FDE but out of my budget now after this.    Currently as a replacement I am using a Leupold 1.5-4x Mark AR Mod 1 Green Firedot SPR reticle that I had bought for a DMR rifle.  It is nice for the price point, but not what I am wanting to run on my primary.   Hope this helps with anyone looking at the optic.  Trijicon could have had a winner on their hands had they paid attention to the details.
  14. Smith and Wesson m&p15 of some variety. I have had a M&P15t for years with who knows how many rounds through it with no problems. It had gone through several carbine classes as well as casual shooting. I have also seen a few good prices on some local Colts for around 1100. The M&P is my duty gun currently due to my trust in the rifle.
  15. If I ever got back into 1911s that would be my dream gun, no flash.
  16. Almost done! Just need my od green ladder covers that I ordered. They sent me black even though my receipt says od green. Haven't shot it yet but extremely excited. It's a little on the heavy side for an sbr and the optic doesn't cowitness. Midwest makes a top cover that lower 1/3rds but I didn't decide on an optic when I bought the rail. Also I really need to find a good ambi safety, nothing online that I have found satisfies me. I really just want a tab on the back of the safety that I could hit with my left thumb. Also debating muzzle device, because the 4pc is pretty long. It could be an inch or so shorter with a different flash hider or brake. I'm sure I will mess around with accessories for a while until I figure out what I want. Stamp took about 8 months on a trust, no errors. Hope my 11.5" AR is a little faster. Specs: Yugo M92 PAP 7.62x39 10" Midwest Rail CNC Warrior 4pc brake Hogue pistol grip Magpul stock and foregrip Primary Arms MD-06 (probably temporary/will see how it holds up) Stormwerkz Stock Adapter - drilled and tapped, probably will weld at some point once I figure out a better solution Sorry for the bad pic I don't have a camera except on my iPad.
  17. I also run the ranger enhanced with a raven. It can be a pain to thread the belt through because it's so stiff, but once it's on it does not move. I really like the combo and it really helps if you are running extra mags and other gear but don't want to wear a full duty belt (LEOs).
  18. I know there are cheaper options but I still prefer Raven Concealment. I just got my second holster from them for a Glock 22 with tlr-1. I'm amazed how well it conceals even with the weapon light and I'm only 5'10" 165lbs. I daily carry a Glock 19 with tlr-3 in a Raven and love it. Plus you have tons of mounting options and now they have quick ship items you can get in about a week.
  19. I love the look you got going on! I'm just waiting on the tax stamp I sent off 6.5 months ago to come back for my M92.
  20. I really like my Ares Ranger Belt Enhanced. I do have to remove the buckle to fit some dressier jeans but fits great with all my cargo khakis. They do make some lighter duty belts but I really like the extra strength. Plus you can customize the colors.
  21. +1 I have owned most of the major manufacturers (XD, M&P, Glock, etc). They all worked great and would not hesitate to carry any of them. I'm all Glock now but that doesn't mean I won't get something else down the road in search of the holy grail.
  22. Nice! Ilike everything about it, the color rocks.
