Cheap dress-up trim for Glock
A.J. Holst replied to glowdotGlock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Model paint could work, I would remove the excess by rubbing the slide on newspaper. I have used this technique on an insignia ring -
Took the trip out Saturday and did a little shooting. 5 lanes x 25 yards and well lit. I believe they are an NRA-Certified training facility Seating is limited since it's a pretty tight space. We kept our bags by our feet in the stall to keep the floor clear. No firearms as of yet. Great selection of ammo for major calibers. We did not purchase any, shot up some excess inventory...BUT, Ladies and Gentleman, it's only $2-$3 more than WM. Nice selection of accessories and a bunch of holsters. Now here is the cool part, they are having a GRAND OPENING special: $1.00 range fees through March Basically, buy some stuff and the range is virtually free.

Probably goes without saying, but keep all landscaping, trees, bushes well trimmed. Don't want to give those pesky zombies anywhere to hide!

Gunshot Heard Around the Gun Show
A.J. Holst replied to Clod Stomper's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
"...man shoots himself with a Kimber, so we are displaying a picture of a CZ85..." -
Now that 911 has been called, you have to make a tough decision. It appears that douch bag connected with two of your rounds and they appear to be in the upper torso. He's bleeding all over your 3 week old carpet. It would be a safe bet he's some sort of junkie. So, what would you do? "Honey, cover me, I'm going to slide him onto the tile floor in the kitchen and get the Resolve..." Seriously, if I was 100% sure of a safe perimeter and felt the BG was not a threat, I would break out the first aid kit and apply bandages and pressure to the wounds.

According to WIKI, the original Swiss models are still bring big bucks

Anybody got one on their wishlist? Got to handle one visiting a shop in Kennesaw, verra nice! The guys at the shop were sharing a little history on the model. As I understand it, originally issued as a service/duty sidearm which could be (or is) a competitiion ready pistol. Interestingly, slide-in-frame design...guess I hang on to my CZ until I have an extra 2g's laying around...

Wish they would make the same grips to fit my AC Commander!

The only problem I had with the interview was the inference by the inteviewer that handguns with higher capacity magazines over the 5/6 shot revolver were "more dangerous" Other than that, very interesting and my hat is off to GG for blazing the trail for the polymer handgun revolution. While I don't like Glocks (other handguns have better ergos for MY hand) I find myself recommending them due to simplicity, ease-of-use and reliability

Got pulled over this morning by Officer CAMPBELL with the KCSO for a headlight out. I had the bulb, bought it last night, just hadn't had a chance to install it. Luckily it was on the seat in plain view, giving proof of my good intentions. Pretty much a "textbook" stop for a hcp holder. I was asked if I was armed, yes, do you have a permit, yes, where is the firearm? This part is pretty good by Officer CAMPBELL "Tell you what, you don't draw yours, I won't draw mine." While I don't encourage you to be pulled over in East Knox County, should it be Officer Corey Campbell, you can expect courtesy, respect, professionalism and a good sense of humor. Keep up the good work over there at the KCSO! OS, thanks for the catch! (Stupid auto fill)

Tennessean writing about CCW reciprocity laws
A.J. Holst replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I too check reciprocity laws when traveling out of state. Last time I checked, ignorance is not a valid defense. -
Got a free box of CCI Blazer aluminum .38 special 158gr. LRN Box displays $.10 Tax stamp The price...$7.99 These rounds must be antiques!

Penetration, expansion, bullet weight, caliber barrel length, all factors in the great debate, but what about solid objects? All these tests are done in gel or water-based stops by the D-I-Y'er. Nobody seems to address what happens when the bullet hits bone. we practice torso / chest shots for SD, good chance you'll hit a rib or two, so unless you practice gut shots, does gel give a good indicator of bullet performance?

My AC Commander has reliably feed all the aforementioned jhp ammo. You May want to check out Tnoutdoors9 on YouTube for his review of the Win PDX-1 available at WM, didn't perform well in the 9mm version. I have seen comments the PDX-1 is repackaged Rangers, butagain based on the YouTube video, I'm not convinced.

I wouldn't rule out the SP, the 3" is only 3/4 inch longer than the "traditional" Roger snub. The hammer can be bobbed and there probably dao hammers available for it.

Don't be fooled, I have met the Suprafly, he doesn't appear to be too soft and gooey... I got to get back out to his place and do some shooting!

I started carrying a bug since I'm left handed...in a vehicle, a left hand draw doesn't work well. So enters my SP101. While the weight of the gun tames a lot of recoil, I am still shooting with my weak hand, so magnum and +p loads were not a great option. I too chose a standard pressure swc- hp which is very manageable. I have seen the rants of old / low tech, poor expansion and the like on other forums; if I need to use my bug its probably going to be close and not too comfortable, like 0 - 3 feet. I figure 158 grains of old tech should work under these conditions... For you ballistics gurus: I have also heard with a lead bullet, you want less than 950 ft/sec for best bullet performance and to avoid lead fouling. Any truth?

Take advantage of LinkedIn and work it! Don't assume it's only for "white collar" types, it all about networking with folks you know and can meet. In the last 3 days, I was able to get 2 leads getting back into my industry.

Since my shirt is untucked 99% of the time, I can easily conceal a Galco double mag holder. I like the option of snaps or belt loops. For the occasion of revolver carry, I will usually drop a speed loader in my front pocket. The downside is the speed loader can become "unlocked" I have never tried speed strips...

Good, bad and ugly? Got a few extra bucks and looks like I may be able to get one in above average condition for under $200.00 All opinions welcome and appreciated!

The folks over at BersaChat obviously love 'em, but they may be a little biased... I did a little internet research a while back, found with more positive than negative reviews. A lot of folks like it better than the "original" Walther platform and Bersa through Eagle Imports has reported great customer support and outstanding warranty service if you do get a lemon.

Have the looks of the HCP changed?
A.J. Holst replied to BlackHawk93's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
What tune is represented by the holographic musical notes running down from the upper left across my face? -
I use either 124 gr Speed Gold Dots, Hornady Tap or Winchester Rangers. The 147gr win sxt / hst (can't remember which letters) is also a good performer. Tnoutdoors9 reviews the win pdx1 available at Walmart, didn't perform well nor does the wwb 147gr jhp. He's got some great reviews in his YouTube channel
