  1. To answer the OP...No, I wouldn't carry in there, even with the sign the way it is. For various reasons... However I am a bit surprised at so many post basically saying it is ok the PD has posted.....well...then again, I'm not as surprised as just disappointed. Some basically saying, just get over it... First I hate it when any place post....but as private property, the owner does have some rights...although the government has restricted his rights on other matters. But a PD is a part of the government, which is supposed to be "of the people". IMHO if the government has allowed us to carry, they shoudn't restrict in their places without some good reason. One last thing though, if the PD is going to post...how hard is it for those that enforce the law, to follow the law and post a more properly worded sign? I swear in some threads here lately....I think I'm surfing some Brady Bunch website or something.
  2. State office buildings (or any state buildings) are not automatically off-limits per any law. They must post per 39-17-1359 like any other place not otherwise off-limits by statute. But even if a state office located within a larger building with several offices, was posted...it wouldn't make the whole building off-limits, unless the etnrances to the building were posted.

  4. Well you are right to some degree.....they can tell if the registred owner of the car has a HCP, but they have no way of knowing if the registered owner is the one operating the vehicle at the time. But granted the registred owner is the operator probably just under 100% of the time.
  5. Not untill and unless they run your DL. They wouldn't know as they are walking up to the car anyway. ...and you're right, they may get mad, but they shouldn't. They should lobby to change the law if they feel that strongly about it.

  7. I have to agree, the OP is just wanting to see how others CC. If you want to discuss the advantages or disadvantages of SmartCarry or any other manner of carry for that matter, you can start a new thread and post a link to the new thread here.
  8. Yes you can carry one if you've had the training, but unlike a HCP you don't get a state issued permit/license. You could still be charged and may have to prove to the court, rather than the officer, that you have had the training.
  9. OS provied the link where you can see TN Code You can check all new laws here The code you quoted is actually 39-11-106(a)(34) I think. It is the list of things that define "Serious bodily injury".
  10. razorback2003 has it right. If you are able to legally hunt in the state park with the handgun at the time, you would not need a permit to OC the handgun. If you are just there and carrying you can OC, but you will need a permit. AFAIK when national park carry is legal, you must CC.
  11. In TN you do not have to get permission from or inform the property owner to enter private property armed like in some states. Of course a property owner can ask you to leave and they can also regulate the manner (OC or CC) in which you carry, but you don't have to ask first. This is a firearms related event, if I thought the carry of firearms was going to be an issue, I don't think I'd be attending....
  12. Anyone can be sued by anyone else at anytime for just about anything. Yes a perp can sue you for shooting him, however the law says if it is ruled a justifiable shoot, he has to pay for your lawyer, any of you lost wages and any other expenses incurred by you in defending the suit. 39-11-622 So I have thought in the back of my mind that should keep most lawyers from taking the case unless it was somehow a slam dunk. But at the end of the day the old saying, "It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6." means a lot as well. But if I were overly worried about being sued, I wouldn't go armed in the first place.
  13. Welcome

  15. No, Not yet anyway....
  16. Based on what I saw in the legislature early this year, I think a bill like that would have a very hard time of passing. But there has already been a case in TN where a property owner was held liable, for something that happened to it's customers. However there has to be a problem that the owner either knew about or should have known about and did nothing to correct.
  17. Welcome
  18. Here is their website Jackson Indoor Shooting Range I have e-mailed the range master, he confirmed that a carry weapon that will not be used on the range or that is not being taken in for service does not have to be unloaded and/or checked. I have never shot there, but keep thinking I will go someday. Others I have talked to have enjoyed it and said it was a nice place.
