  1. Wish them the best of luck!!
  2. Welcome
  3. Careful....you'll start that "blue wall" talk again....
  4. I think he is agreeing with that. He is just that regardless of who is doing the pointing of the gun and regardless of whether it is lawful or not.......that pointing a gun at someone is threatening deadly force.
  5. Welcome
  6. Interesting....
  7. I agree with you mostly wjh2657....in departments with several officers. But the town I grew up in only had 5 full-time officers. The other town in the same county only had one and one part-time officer. The sheriff's department only had about 9-10 road deputies. So at any given time there maybe only 1-2, none, 2-3 respectivly officers on duty. I'm not saying anything bad about these size departments...but they just don't operate the same way or have the same internal or external review as larger departments do. I'm not saying they are drawing their guns all the time, I'm just saying there aren't as many reports filed and/or reviewed by others. I think we discuss LEO issues on TGO we forget that we aren't all used to the same size agencies in our local areas.
  8. I think I see what you are saying now....
  9. Why do I carry a gun?... As others have said, I am not looking for trouble, I just want to be prepared if trouble finds me. In my opinion it is no different than a fire extingusher in your house or a spare tire in your car. It simply called being prepared. Why do I have a HCP?...Because in TN is is the only legal way for me to carry a handgun of my property.
  10. I think it is Alaska and maybe one other state that their new law says the state AG will defend any citizen in federal case. If you live in one of those states and are willing to take a chance I'd say go for it. As far as in TN and others, I would have a super 2A attorney lined up before I even thought about trying something. Don't really blame the NRA for giving the warning and not expecting them to jump in and defend you.
  11. I think I would have done the same thing. As Dave said, even though he had no legal right to ask, he is operating with authority of the property owner and can tell you to leave. Now if just some joe blow ask, or the bag boy or someone being curious or smart, I would probably decline, but would try to be civil while I did.
  12. While I don't fully agree with Phantom6 on that the OP had his feelings hurt or that he was wrong for interupting the speaker, I do agree that I wouldn't hold the TFA wholely or directly responsiable for what the speaker said.
  13. It does seem the anti-OC people among HCP holders are worse than the anti-gun folks in the general public. Also it does sound like this guy doesn't have all his ducks in a row. Good for you for trying to clear some mis-information up.
  14. It failed to pass in the Senate. It recived a majority of the votes of the Senators present. But it wasn't a majority of the membership of the Senate because some were absent. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/22876-tennessee-senate-fails-approve-bill-close-handgun-carry-records.html Tennessee General Assembly Legislation
  15. Oops, guess it has. I'll close this one then.
  16. Guess I was the only one that thought so.........
  17. Not sure if I'd even really worried about it. Since the law says a property owner can designate just part of the property as off limits, a sign on the DJ booth and not the outer doors, could mean carry is just prohibited in the DJ booth. But even that is the case, the circle and slash is not enough by itself. However a polite discussion and letting someone know your posistion is always good, even if there stance is improperly relayed. Hopefully you can bring her around.
  18. I agree the ABC is not always enforcing their own rules. But I think one problem is about the only way a "sit down" place can serve liquor by the drink is to get a restaurant license. If they would simply create a bar license and let places that don't serve meals, etc... serve liquor by the drink that would solve a lot of the problem. You could also simply require those places to post some sort of sign or symbol to indicate they are operating under a bar license and that carry is prohibited and/or whatever else the wanted to prohibit in bars.
  19. That is why I said or and may be because I am not famillar with the Wilson Co Fair location. I personally know of at least one "county" fair that is entirely on city property.
