  1. You can remain armed if you are just dropping off or picking up passengers in park, just like a school. But there is nothing in 39-17-1311 that says you can leave a handgun in a locked vehicle. But at the same time I've not seen a lot of vehicle searches at the park either.
  2. It is a state park, right? If so it is legal to carry there, however any signs they had may still be up. The new state law said no signs had to be changed or modifed since it would still be illegal for the general public to carry there. This mainly done to keep from having a fiscal note on the bill because of having to change signs.
  3. Worked last night...going out tomorrow night to Jackson. Planning on Logan's, if not posted. If it is, will look for some place else....Sparky's has said he doesn't intend to post. Where ever I go (or don't) will try to let someone in charge know why. Old Goat.....if you ever need any help with those cold beers....just holler.
  4. Another point is, if your local park does opt out. In the future you only have to try and convience a majority of 5-9 local politicians instead of the TN legislature to allow carry there.
  5. Yes, a kitchen is required as is wait staff, beyond just a bartender I believe.
  6. That is the case... ...and I agree that just a posting is not enough for a place to be held liable. Also that if place post (or even not in some cases) but doesn't do anything to protect you from a known or forseeable danger, they could be held liable.
  7. Good idea. I will be staying in Franklin overnight next month....may have to get some pizza and tell them why.
  8. Welcome
  9. Had the opt out not been in there for local parks, ALL local parks would still be off-limits, even if the local goverment wanted to allow carry. Jackson, TN will allow carry in their parks, so far the city council where I live has not mentioned bringing it up. So maybe not the blanket statewide local park carry that I admit would have been nice....come Sept 1 there will several more local parks that carry is legal in than there are today. Also since cities and counties already have the ability to post other goverment owned property...city hall, courthouse and so on, you could say the ability to post their own parks is not much different.
  10. I am curious how often it is updated myself. In the meantime you can go to Tennessee 106th General Assembly Public Acts Search to see everything that has become law.
  11. I'm at work....anybody from the area go and know how it turned out?
  12. A property owner can be held liable if there is a "known danger" and they don't do anything to protect you. There is a TN case on this that I don't have the ability to link to at the moment. But I agree that no property owner has a duty to protect you from any general danger. Also if you enter a posted establisment and disarm on your own accord you have no standing, because you did not have to go in.
  13. AFAIK Yes on the unloaded and kept seperate. Not really sure on the then, but first thought is No.
  14. You no longer have to show your birth certificate for a renewal. AG Opinion 09-106
  15. You can do the change of address online. When you change it for your DL it also changes it for your HCP. So once it is offically changed. Can't you order a duplicate HCP as bkelm18 stated and it should have your new (changed) address?
  16. In AG Opinion 07-43 the AG said that just a slash and gun sign was not enough for 39-17-1359. As far as way for them CTOA, I personally have never thought an improper posting was the owner's attmept to look good towards antis but still allow legal carry. But many on here think that is a possiblity.
  17. You know with all of these "home made" signs being posted....it might be time for the AG to issue an opinion as to what constitutes substainly simillar. At least what HAS to be included in the sign.
  18. Welcome
  19. Welcome
  20. This may be what you are working on Dave.....but I think one way a card, or flyer or broucher or whatever could come in handy is after you have had the face to face talk with the manager. You know, be able to leave them something with the facts about what sort of checks a HCP holder has gone through and other stats about how few crimes HCP holders have commited. That criminals will not respect a posted sign... and any other relevant info you or others can think to add.
  21. Where do you get that? There has been discussion about OC vs CC, tatics, training and other things, but I don't recall anyone saying there were looking for an oppurtunity to use there weapon. In fact just the opposite is true I think. I believe many here hope they never have to use their weapon, they just want to be prepared if unfotunately that day should ever come.
  22. Boy....when John Harris sees his name associated with TGO... LOL...Nope, no babies around ...although there were a few "babes"
  23. The sign the ABC requires places to post does not prohibit carry. It simply says what the penalites for illegal carry are. To prohibit carry a restaurant would have to post a 39-17-1359 sign. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/firearms-law-faq/21580-tca-39-17-1359-tennessee-prohibition-carry-notice.html
