  3. Yep...Pickwick is a state park and carry is legal in state parks.
  4. I agree. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just like the Natchez Trace Parkway in that the roadway itself is part of the park...A National Park. So carry will not be legal 'till Feb 2010
  5. He's not saying you don't know cops that have trained and shoot a lot. He also is not say that all cops don't train and shoot a lot. He is simply saying he does know some cops that don't shoot often. So thankfully you know LEOs that will be good to go with the hits the fan. Punisher is saying...him...not so much. ....and just a note. Most of the LEOs I knew didn't shoot that often either. As far a stress shoot, the did one in the 10 years that I remember.
  6. The cards you saw on the news were made up by the TFA. David did mention something about maybe making some TGO cards, maybe he'll be along in a little to give more info.
  7. You can carry your handgun in the WMA as long as you not otherwise in violation of any wildlife laws, rules or regulations. If you have a HCP, then yes you can have your long guns loaded (no round in the chamber) in your vehicle on the way to the range.
  8. Welcome

  11. If a judge grants him a ex parte Order of Protection, meaning the judge is willing to grant him a OP based only of his side of the story, then yes, your HCP would be suspend at least until the hearing within 10 days. At that hearing the judge would either issue a permit OP or dismiss the ex parte one. The trouble is the hearing could have come and gone, before you ever hear from the Department of Safety. To be honest...judges issue ex parte Orders of Protection fairly easily to parties (women) in domestic relationships. In your situation, I really don't know what a judge may do though.
  12. That is great news Nikki
  13. LOL...I did think about it. Wasn't so sure how presentable I would be after riding that far though.
  14. I'm not David...but I was there. Cooper himself was not there, it was someone else from his office. To be honest, he didn't speak as well as some of the other, but also the plaintiffs did sort of change their whole argument in mid-stream. He did ok with what was the primary objective of the injunction. As far as the constitutionality on whether it is too vague or not...hopefully they will have a good argument prepared in 90 days.
  15. LOL...I'll take any help that wants to be given for my $12.00 parking fee and about $40.00+ worth of gas....
  16. LOL...what are you talking about man? Sitting next to me you look anorexic almost
  17. Thankfully when I moved I was close to renewal, so I just did the change of address online and waited about getting a permit with my new address when I renewed. After reading this...glad I did..
  18. LOL...caught me when I was on my phone and I was probably the one that used their phone the least the whole day. It was good to see everyone that was there. I'm very pleased with the outcome and hope that within 90 days the AG's office can prepare a good argument as to why the law is not so vague as to be unconstitutional. If at all possible I will be there for that hearing as well. ...and that Bob Pope is a real character.....
  19. Name: ALL CITY PARKS City: Lebanon Results of Vote: No vote but see below. (Looks like carry will be allowed) From The Lebanon Democrat. GUNS IN PARKSBy: By J.R. LIND Posted: Sunday, July 12, 2009 12:03 am Comment Email Print Despite some mumblings, it appears unlikely Lebanon will opt out of the recently-passed guns-in-parks law. The law, which allows handgun-carry permit holders to have their weapons in city parks, passed the state legislature late in this year's session. The law includes a provision allowing city councils to "opt-out," effectively banning weapons in parks under their control. During a handful of recent Lebanon City Council meetings and work sessions, Councilor Kevin Huddleston obliquely indicated he would be asking City Attorney Andy Wright to draft the opt-out ordinance. Friday, Huddleston said he will not pursue that move. "I thought abouut it but i'm not going to. I have had some people in my ward and some family members that said i shouldn't do that," he said. Huddleston said safety concerns were first on people's minds as they argued against the ban. He said it's the same reason he wants to keep the attendant at Don Fox Park in the budget. That job is one of more than two dozen city jobs that appear to be victims of budget cuts. City Recreation Director William Porter said he can save the job if he's allowed to move money from other lines in his budget allocated for part-time workers and overtime. During the brief moments in which guns-in-parks came up, Councilor Kathy Warmath expressed that she would not vote for the ban. "I'm totally against that. I don't carry one myself. I believe everyone has a right to protect themselves. Law enforcement can't be everywhere. If you are in danger and you are a responsible person, you should be able to carry them anywhere," she said Friday. Wright said no member of the council has indicated they would like him to draft the opt-out ordinance. The state law goes into effect Sept. 1 and cities must act before that date to opt out. City councils in Murfreesboro and Clarksville voted to opt out Thursday. Nearly 50 city and county governments statewide have opted out to date. Staff Writer J.R. Lind can be reached at 444-3952 ext. 16 or by e-mail at jr.lind@lebanondemocrat.com
  20. I understand what your saying...but that argument has been tried before. I mean 39-17-1302(a) doesn't say anything about handguns either, but the AG has said that even though handguns are not listed they are still (at the time) prohibited. 07-148 (Question 3) and then when questioned about the specifc thing you mention he issued 08-26 still standing by his orginal opinion and also going further to say all firearms are prohibited from park. So that is why I say 39-17-1311(a) prohibits long guns and handguns and the new law only added handguns for those with a HCP as being legal.
