  1. Sage advise eehlert. I have seen judges let people go for clear violations of the law, so there is every reason to think the opposite can happen, especially when the law itself leaves a lot open to interpritation. On a realted note....I would give very serious thought before I carried past any signs newly posted at a restaurant, even if it's not legal. They would just be looking for some reason to stir things up again.
  2. Just checked my reciept...I renewed on 3/17/09 and have not called...maybe it will be in soon.
  3. The Senate and House both passed the Confrence Committee Majority Report yesterday of HB0898 The report recomends House Amendment 1 and Senate Amendment 2 be adopted. House Amendment 1 is what will allow LEOs to carry where alcohol is served for onsite consumption. Seneate Amendment 2 is what closes any possiable loophole. It says... On a side note...apparently LEOs will not be limted to only restaurants as far as carry.
  4. Actually when/if HB0961 becomes law, it will still be illegal to be in possesion of a firearm while bow hunting or even have someone with you that is armed. It may or not be a TWRA regulation, but it is the law as well. There was a bill to change this HB0770/SB0842 but it never seemed to get started. However I do agree the TWRA can not make any regulation that goes against state law.
  5. 1. There is no legal definitoin of a bar in TN. There is no such thing as a license for a bar. So technically there are no bars in TN. There are some restaurants out there that some may think of as bar though. 2. Some may, but most have no idea. 3. I wouldn't think most do, most know that carry without a permit is illegal period, they just don't care and/or don't think they should have to get a permit. 4. All?....probably not. 99%+, Yes 5. If you even just decently conceal, most people have no clue you are armed. As far as if anyone knows you armed knowing the reason you are armed..opinions are liable to GREATLY vary as to why they think you are.
  6. Is there anyway to lobby whoever to change the general order or possibly have the Federal level lawmakers introduce a bill/amendment to work around this?
  7. Nevermind...... Didn't read the quoted post right...
  8. What set of rules am I agreeing to by just going to a WMA? I don't hunt (don't have a problem with it though) I'm not going to a WMA to hunt. Maybe there is another reason I am at the WMA. I believe this bill when/if it becomes law will allow me to be armed if I am simply just visiting a WMA.
  9. I believe a state law trumps a TWRA regulation.
  10. Bill status page just updated!!! The bill has passed the Senate 28-0 Now just needs to be signed by both speakers and sent to the Governor. Will become effective immediately upon his signature.
  11. Section 1 of HB0961 would specifically allow those with a HCP to carry year round in WMAs and the other places mentioned in 70-4-117 Section 2 allows those with a HCP also carry in National Forest managed by the state and to the extent as allowed by federal law. So even if this passes it seems whatever on a Federal Level that is preventing carry in LBL would have to be dealt with.
  12. OMG...LOL...what next?!? First I don't think Rep Todd or Sen Jackson misrepresented anything, but there is plenty of misrepresentation on the floor at any given time....and even some flat out lies. What in the world does that have do with any piece of legislation that is passed? It's sort of like in court...a statement from a lawyer is not fact or evidence when questioning a witness or talking to the jury.
  13. You are 100% correct, the only reason we have a law that expressly allows it is because there was a law expressly against it. Could have just as easily repealed 39-17-1305 in it's entirety and allowed carry EVERYWHERE alcohol is served, but the way it was done was to try and limit carry to restaurants. When someone is this far off the deep-end I'm not sure if there is any amount of reasoning and facts that can bring them back.
  14. Already posted.... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/22876-tennessee-senate-fails-approve-bill-close-handgun-carry-records.html
  15. I can't stand to read the whole thing... Such ignorance just starts giving me such a headache....
  16. PASSES in Senate FWM committee 10-0 Sent to the Calendar Committee
  17. Any word from the Senate FWM committee on the bill?
  18. I believe GKar and a couple of others are more concerned with Cherokee NF and the fact that a large part of the forest is a state WMA also, as opposed to anything to do with LBL. Also when you say "need an amendment to the bill to open up LBL" you mean on a Federal level bill, not a state level bill, right? Not sure how a state legislature could override a directive from a federal manager on federal lands. Again I think you're mixing up you talking about LBL and them Cherokee NF. I believe it was another thread where someone was talking about LBL.
  19. Welcome
  20. First I don't think they can legally post a city street. As far as each business...are they going to force every business to post? What if some don't want to? But.....I haven't lost a thing in Memphis...let alone on Beale Street.
  21. Welcome
  22. ^^^What he said^^^ I've always heard this and I don't doubt one or two places may have done this, but I figure it is very, very rare.
