  1. People, people, people......read 39-17-1359... It only applies to those with a HCP....no one else...period. If someone without a HCP carries a handgun into a posted place....they aren't violating 39-17-1359, they are violating 39-17-1307. Just as pretty much anyone else is that is armed in public is unless they fall under the defenses of 39-17-1308, or are a LEO per 39-17-1350 or some other statute that allows them to be armed.
  2. Correct... Well except 2 actually says consuming or under the influence (But that is in your next post) 39-17-1359 signs have never applied to LEOs (on or off duty). Now just to a little. AFAIK a property owner can still ask a LEO (on or off duty) to leave private property unless he has some duty that requires him to be there.
  3. Hope it works out.... I had a handgun stolen by some juvinell's several years ago. They were caugh and ordered to pay restitution. (Gun supposedly thrown in the river). Never have seen a dime. The juvenile clerk let one of them move out of state with out getting any info on where they were going or anything. Used to call the clerk and the other's probation officer regularly...finally just gave up. BTW....It was a Smith and Wesson Model 5903 Ser# TZZ1312 It was entered into NCIC (Need to check to make sure it still is) I also entered it into Stolen Gun Database And Stolen Guns Search myself.
  4. I think that is his point... If my neighbors were possibly inclined to do something against me or my property....I wouldn't mind them thinking I'm a threat to them.
  5. Funny you should mention the TN Secretary of State. If you go to their website Tennessee Department of State: Publications you can see what bills have become law and their final version. Just click on Public Acts Search and you can go from there. I think what OS posted is correct, but if you go to the SoS website you can see the final version, including signatures, veto notes etc...... Here it is Public Chapter 1009
  6. I'm going to say No, at least not directly...see post 18. If clicking on ad doesn't help directly, not sure how purchasing something from a website after you clicked on it would...
  7. Was going to watch it, but decided to pass. Already know who I'm going to vote for (while holding my nose) so didn't see any reason to get worked up on the first night I've had to relax in a while....lol
  8. Hmmm...I don't remember you ever getting upset... I agree the "international symbol" was the downside to an otherwise good bill. I guess it is up to us to show how posting the sign can cause harm to their business by lost dollars from HCP holders and those that support the 2A....doing it calmly and with courtesy of course...
  9. Not a bad thing......
  10. Between Kwik, personal attacks and it strating to go in circles....I think this thread is done.
  11. Here is one I was looking at... TexasCHLforum.com • Index page
  12. I think everyone is in about 98% agreement....the other 2% has more to do the actual specifics in a given situation and can't really be discussed with certainty in general discussion.
  13. Also from reading on TX group somewhat like TGO it seems retails places and those that get <50% from alcohol have to post a sign that "unlicensed" carry is a felony. http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/faq/general.asp Question 10 Main think is don't carry past "51" signs and "30.06" Signs.
  14. If I carry my MagLite and get myslef arrested can I get a steak dinner then?
  15. Yes... Texas Penal Code GC §411.204. NOTICE REQUIRED ON CERTAIN PREMISES. (a) A business that has a permit or license issued under Chapter 25, 28, 32, 69, or 74, Alcoholic Beverage Code, and that derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption as determined by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission under Section 104.06, Alcoholic Beverage Code, shall prominently display at each entrance to the business premises a sign that complies with the requirements of Subsection ©. ( A hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety Code, or a nursing home licensed under Chapter 242, Health and Safety Code, shall prominently display at each entrance to the hospital or nursing home, as appropriate, a sign that complies with the requirements of Subsection © other than the requirement that the sign include on its face the number "51". © The sign required under Subsections (a) and ( must give notice in both English and Spanish that it is unlawful for a person licensed under this subchapter to carry a handgun on the premises. The sign must appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height and must include on its face the number "51" printed in solid red at least five inches in height. The sign shall be displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public. (d) A business that has a permit or license issued under the Alcoholic Beverage Code and that is not required to display a sign under this section may be required to display a sign under Section 11.041 or 61.11, Alcoholic Beverage Code. (e) This section does not apply to a business that has a food and beverage certificate issued under the Alcoholic Beverage Code.
  16. LOL...yep, have taken Hwy 59 Texarkana to Houston a couple of times. Never been stopped, but just when you think you are making time, you hit another town.
  17. I have carried in TX several times with no issues....however.... This from handgunlaw.us So it would seem that if someone can tell you have a firearm through "ordinary observation" it is no longer considered concealed and therefore no longer being carried legally. Although the second half does say "intentional". Also remember TX is a Must Inform state.
  18. Well was illegal to hunt from a vehicle before this as well, but you are probably right in that it had a lot to do with the new law and not having a round chambered in the long gun.
  19. I do remember one new HCP holder recently posting about going to OC on their first day and go to Wal-Mart. But as has been said, 99% CC. As far as Wal-Mart in general, just a place that almost all of us go, and just helps you with that "Everyone can see I've got a gun." feeling you get when first starting to carry.
  20. Yep, good story. Also, let's not let this thread become about something/someone else....
  21. Well that's no good...lol
  22. Ummm...what has to happen for me to get the steak dinner?
  23. Also remember, Federal Buildings are supposed to posted that they are such.
