  1. I would say No. Even if it is not a "knife" I would say it is a weapon of "like kind"
  2. See post 69, it is posted now.
  3. The sad thing is apparently they're not even posting these signs thinking they will stop any criminals (just make some if any carry past them)...they are posting them to appease a few sheeple. While I don't guess there is anyway to know for sure, I be these posting will cost them more customers than the few, if any, actually scared off by OCed handguns.
  4. Two things... First, there is no such thing a firearms "registration" in TN.....at least not like it is in some states. Secondly, "possession" doesn't have anything to do with who purchased (probably what you meant) the weapon, or even if there was registration, who it was registered to. Possession, whether actual or constructive, has to do with who has control over the weapon. So if it was in a locked vehicle that you have the keys to (control of) you are the one in possession of it.
  5. Listen closely.......it's the sound of this door closing......
  6. I don't know for sure...but if a public roadway through a college campus, posted park etc....is legal, I would think staying on the river through any certain lock/dam would be ok. Do they normally search vessels going through? If not, don't really see where it would be a problem.
  7. Several banks are on ATM "networks" now as well. I bank at local bank in town, only has two places...main office and one branch. But they are on the Money Belt ATM network. So as long as another bank is on that same network, no ATM fee. I admit it might be a bit more trouble having to make sure an ATM is on a network than going to a bank of the same name, but you do what you have to.
  8. IMO, if it is a city street you should be fine. As others have said, just because the Campus PD may have jurisdiction, doesn't make it part of the campus.
  9. You're right in that in that it can posted in several ways. The international circle and slash is a legal posting regardless of if there is any wording with it or not. If a wording only sign is used, as long as it has the 3 elements requried to make it have "language substantially similar to" it does not have to contain exact wording.
  10. Yep....just the standard "plainly visible" requirement.
  11. Correct... See Section 3 of Public Chapter 1009 for the current version of T.C.A. 39-17-1359 Part ((1) says that one or both can be used.
  12. I think these may be the shows you are talking about.... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/44275-practical-tactical-conceal-carry-school-spike-tv.html They are pretty good!
  13. Checked the Regions Bank in Milan this morning and it is posted.
  14. Been a while since I was there, but it wasn't posted then. However don't think I'd ask......there are areas where they don't even want you to use flash photography, so pretty sure they wouldn't want a firearm discharged in there and would probably say no just to be sure.............
  15. I no longer live in Milan, but work close and have to go into town tomorrow, so will check the one there then. I agree, if it is corporate, you'd think it would be all. But I'm not sure how many "levels" of control there are for Regions. Could be only those banks under a certain level of control or just not all banks have got around to it yet.
  16. I do agree that is apparently how things are today, although they souldn't be.
  17. Well you have to fill out an application (again) and pay the $50, but yes...that's it on your part and you leave with receipt in hand.
  18. I admit it based on what has been posted it is obvious that in the case the posting(s) are in direct response to someone OCing. However as "impressed" as some may be by others displaying their "rights" am just as impressed by a national company having such a response to a legal activity. They say they are worried about not knowing who has HCP or not....well what about the state where OC is legal without a permit? If the person is not doing anything else to violate the law, why worry if they have a permit or not? We all know that BGs OC their weapons as well right......well what are they going to do when BG OCs and robs the bank....charge him with violating 39-17-1359 as well? If they really don't want patrons OCing how about a sign that says that instead of prohibiting carry all together? Just as some may be upset because they feel those that OC have harmed them in some way.....I am upset that a few sheeple can affect such things in the first place.
  19. Yep, unfortunately there is no black and white answers on the law many times....especially firearms laws. They tried to make 39-17-1359 more clear, but I don't think they did a very good job. But basically you and OS are right. There are plenty of signs that don't meet the requirements of 39-17-1359 but that doesn't mean a judge wouldn't still find you guilty.
  20. There are AG opinions on both of these. On question 1 in Opinion 09-129 the AG has said a HCP holder could leave their firearm in their car while at a park being used by a school. (See footnote 2 on page 3). However there are exceptions in 39-17-1311 if a park is off-limits and leaving it in your unattended vehicle is not listed, so there is a bit of conflict there. But IMO if it leaving it in your car is good enough while a school is using a non-posted park it should be good enough while in a posted park. However...why is anyone going to search your vehicle anyway? On question 2 see Opinion 09-158 Question 7. The short answer is No.
  21. Don't want to vote for Halsam....but what are you gonna do? While he may not be a big 2A supporter, I think he is less likely to veto legislation that makes it to his desk than McWherter would be.
  22. For some I don't think it's that they want to be seen as much as they don't want to violate the law regardless of whether anyone would know or not.
  23. No, the law didn't change....it never required proof of citizenship in the first place to renew according to the AG (AG Opinion 09-106) So the DOS stopped requiring it after that opinion.
  24. True....I think they think....that most people (sheeple) are "uncomfortable" around firearms and don't want people to feel that way. Because logically....it makes no sense at all. I completely agree....
