  1. Dave, I priced the only one at the show, at a dealer from Cleveland. Tagged at $569, $620 out the door. I declined. One of our former Deputies has his FFL. Gonna get a price from him this week, plus availability. Hear they're sometimes in short supply. No interest in the PPS.
  2. Just got back from the show. They are still charging $5 for parking. $8 admiss. Good size crowd there today. Sold the pistol I went there to sell at a decent price. Bought a couple of cleaning swabs & a book, about to starve, so I hot footed it back to Lebanon to KFC. Man, that fried chicken was good. Priced a Walther PPQ 40 S&W with one dealer. A bit pricey. Think I can do better. Maybe next week at Hendersonville. Great day to be out & about, regardless.
  3. Anyone going to Bill Goodmans Gun, Knife, & Flea mkt. stuff show this weekend? Planning on biting the bullet ( pun intended ) for the admission & trying to sell a pistol.
  4. True, Walmart has cameras all over the place. Question is, is anyone monitoring them. I went into the Lebanon store a few adys ago to get a new battery for my mower, had the old core with me. There was no one at the door to put on the sticker they normally do. Asked a clerk, she said they don't do that anymore. Gallatin store, same way. There's no one to check at the door when you leave either. Just makes me wonder if their security has taken a hit due to budget reasons. Not that it was all that great to begin with. Suggest you watch you own back, which I do anyway.
  5. Disarming the military in a combat zone. Brilliant! If he's that worried, stay home. There is a war with unfriendlies going on here, BTW.
  6. Elated at seeing this SOB go. Current crop seems to be heading in the same direction, tho. As Volzfan said, about 20 yrs too late.
  7. Folks. I've been dealing with the VA since I medically retired out of Uncle Sams' Army in '68. If you're going to the VA for any reason, be sure to take a large jar of Vaseline with you. You're going to need it. Nothing this bunch does will surprise me.
  8. The ones I've been to were not so "Great". Unless you live close by & nothing else to do, I'd skip it.
  9. My take, an accident waiting to happen. Looks great on paper, in the pants...whole different ballgame.
  10. Used to subscribe to American Handgunner, but let it expire. Usually just buy whatever has an article that interests me. Most don't.
  11. My thoughts as well. I have a PT709 ( same size as 740 ), that's a good smaller gun, fits in the front pocket of my TruSpec pants, inside a Blackhawk nylon pocket holster I got at Wally World for $10. Probably get one for around $360 or so. Also have a Crossbreed Supertuck for it.
  12. I don't know who digs up these shows, but they should locate an island somewhere, just go & sit.
  13. Well, apparently, no one made the show. I decided to sit this one out as well.
  14. Agree, Mike. Sponsors are very hard to come by this season. Danica has both talent & marketability. On the other hand, Trevor Bayne still does not have a full time ride in either Nationwide or Sprint. After his big win at Daytona last year, he was sick for quite a while. I believe that layoff hurt him marketwise. Both got banged up pretty good today. Another wild restrictor plate finish. I hate those things!
  15. The RK show in Murfreesboro is the best one in Mid TN, IMO, but they don't have another show scheduled there until Oct., according to their website.
  16. Ishel, if you're driving from Morristown, probably not worth it. It's stll quite small. I may go just to try to sell a Springfield XDm 40 that I want to sell in order to buy something else. Aside from that, I wouldn't go either. Kens' is usually the biggest dealer there. Plus, I'm only 10 mi or less away.
  17. My Dept. recently installed the Lasermax guide rod laser in our Glock 22s. Haven't heard of any issues yet. I had one in a Glock 22 I had a few yrs ago. Worked OK as long as you don't use a nylon holster. It kept pushing the switch ON & running down the battery. I used the nylon holster between the var seat & console. A good leather or kydex holster will fix that issue. Go for it.
  18. That's the same one I use. Pretty well covers it.
  19. Glad to have NASCAR back to replace football for a while. Like her or hate her, Danica can drive a race car. She's a middle of the pack driver right now, may or may not improve. Lots of guys in the same boat. Carl Edwards is still the man with me. Any of the other Rousch guys.
  20. LOL, DaddyO, I had the same experience yesterday. Wife saw one come chasing a deer across the back yard. Few minutes later, I saw him come trotting back the way he came. First I've seen in the yard, although I've seen tracks. Guess I'm going to have to sharpen up my calling skills ( which don't exist at present ).
