I think it was Nashville Motorcycle Repair that worked on my son's old bike. They did a good job.  This was several years ago.

Check for Vacuum leaks.  Likely source is the intake boots between the carbs and cylinder.  Could also be cracked covers on the sides of the carbs.  Could also be abnormally high idle speed

I've never heard anyone have complaints about Sloan's. They seem to be good people.

I presume you've already written that check, but I typically don't pay for diagnosis that don't fix the problem. If they tried a bunch of stuff that didn't work, that's on their dime, not mine.
