IWB holster recommendations??

Recommended Posts

As y'all know, I've gotten a couple new guns lately. The holsters that I have for both are OWB. They do the job nicely for what they are but don't conceal as well as I would like. I have a Safariland for the M&P compact and it does a decent job of concealing. The one that I'm really concerned about is the Sig 226. I have a tactical holster for it that enables me to put my TLR-1 on it. It's fine for range days and such, but it's pretty big and obvious. I'd like to get a good IWB holster for it without the light. I'd like to hear the pros and cons of the IWB holsters that y'all use. I'll spend good money on a holster for it, but don't want to buy half a dozen holsters in trial and error. I might get a good IWB for the M&P compact as well.

Thanks

I use a Galco IWB holster for my carry. I carry a 92FS, 1911, and G19 in it. I know it isn't made for all of those guns, but it holds them in place while tucked in a pair of pants or shorts or jeans and that is what matters.

I did cut off the thumb break on it. With a good belt cinched up a little snug, it holds the gun just fine.

I just order a Comp-Tac CTAC for my M&P9. I have read lot of good things about these. It should be here anyday now. The other holsters that I am looking at are the Cochise or Dakota Defender from K&D Holsters. They are very similar to tha CTAC(use the ame clip and tab mounting system), but they are leather.

I suggest you go to the M&P forum and look around. Do a search for holsters and you will get more info then you care to have.

I like clip IWB holsters as well. Don Hume works for me.

While this has the P3AT in it, I use the same holster for my P7M8. Just worked out that way.

The leather strip sewn around the top helps keep the top open when you re-holster the handgun. I do not like retention devices on IWB holsters.

I had a CTAC for my XD that I used to have. I was pretty satisfied with it but wanted some other recomendations. The CTAC would dig into my side when driving and I thought that leather would be a little more comfortable. I might look into the KD holsters. I really liked the clips on the CTAC.

K&D Cochise Defender for the money these holsters are hard to beat. Kevin(Owner/Builder) is great to deal with and his holsters have held up perfectly for me.(I own 2)

Comp Tac C-T.A.C. probably the best not all leather I.W.B holster you can buy. Comfortable and functional, easy reholstering is a major plus.(I own 1)

I prefer leather it is just more comfortable. Any of these holsters are about as good as it gets for the money. If I could only own one it would be the Sparks VM2.

I enjoy the Crossbreed IWBSOB

yup yup, love my crossbreed iwb. great customer service as well. mark just upgraded the clips and i broke one of the old ones, sent him the holster back on a monday, got a brand new holster with leather upgrade and clip upgrade on thursday. thought about a dakota defender, but i;ve had a galco miami, and an all leather takes a lot of breaking in. the kydex/leather combo makes for very fast draw/holstering, comparable to an owb. good luck with the search and keep in mind that some of these companies with long wait times already have holsters for sale on the shelves of retail stores that you can order in a couple days:up:
