I do heat and air work for a bunch of cabin places in gatlinburg. And my freind owns a 2 bedroom chalet that over looks the ski lodge. This is it.

I dont know what kind of a deal he will make but I will ask let me know if you like it. Let me know if you want other company names. They might give you a discount if you say you are a friend.

Well, my opinions rarely parallel anyone else's,DUH! I was looking for a cool get away spot a while back. Kinda tired of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge so I opened my maps and found the most desolate stretch of mountains in TN.

Ever heard of the Iron Mountains? Me either! Being an old school AD&D nerd, the name had me hooked.

Nothing much around for a parsec or two! If you just want it to be scenic, quiet and the two of you..... It doesn't appeal to the lady at first for the lack of shopping, but come on, how many gift shops full of pakistan knives, hot sauce and F'ing coffee mugs or ceramic black bears can one person need?

I'm thinking of looking into this place next year. It'd be nice to get out with the mrs. and have a little adventure where the sheeple aren't grazing.

What's to do? Breathe the mountain air. Enjoy a little quiet time, have a nice country dinner. Not much night life,,,,more time to hit that thing like a cave man!!!!!!

Well, I think it looks promising.

Sorry if I whizzed on your picnic:D

I know you asked about cabins, but we own a time share with Westgate smokey mountain resorts:

I have some brochures/flyers that will give you a 4 day 3 night stay for $99 dollars, you will be required to go for the sales pitch a couple of hours one day and it is of course up to you whether you buy or not, but that is the only catch to be able to stay for $99. If you are interested let me know, send me a PM with your name and address to send the flyer to.

Not in Gatlinburg, but there is a super sweet campground\cabin place in Towsend by the name of Ye Old Mill.

I loved it down there!Very beautiful place imo,but best of all,no traffic being on the other side of the hill, and all! But still only a few minutes from Pigeon Forge.

This is really the only place I found for a website which sucks because there is no pictures on there ;)

Edit;I should mention that this place is in the lower price avenue, but those are the places that I like though.

Dont need no stinkin fancies when on a vacation for me!

If you don't mind going a little further east (into NC) my wife and I spent our honeymoon here: http://www.rockcreekcabins.com/ravencove.htm That's the actual unit we had for 10 days (it was AWESOME!!) and it was under $900 with taxes, etc. You can't see another human or building from each unit, and we had to go about half a mile off pavement to get to ours. (Glad we didn't take my Lincoln!) Most units have hot tubs and you've got satellite TV, a DVD player, and a charcoal grill.

It's about 5 minutes outside of Bryson City, NC which was a cool little town with a really good pizza joint and an OK "upscale" Italian place. The people were really nice, and we were there for the 4th of July festivities which was a lot of fun! You'll be about 15-20 mins from Cherokee if you feel like gambling, 40 mins from Maggie Valley, and a little over an hour from the Biltmore. The Biltmore really is an amazing place. I didn't really care about going at first... it was more about the wifey to start with, but I really enjoyed it! They have some AMAZING gardens!

Wherever you go, I hope you get some refreshing time away from the world for awhile!

I third the Townsend area. I can tell you what I do is go to VRBO.com and browse the area. Find a couple of places you are interested in. Check out their calendar and figure out when they are available and make them an offer based on what you are willing to pay. If you do it last minute you usually will get someone to bargain with you and you can get a great deal on a vacation. This has worked on my past trips to Ski and to the beach, so give it a try.

These are some cabins the wife and I stayed in one time in townsand,

Only about 5 of them in a row along a stream.

It's been a few years but It wasn't too bad price wise at the time and was a nice stay.

The place we always stay now is Wears Valley which is close to townsand and we have rented a few cabins from these guys and always liked them.

It says on thier website if you buy 3 nights you get one free not including holidays. We are going on good friday/easter weekend so I figured we wouldn't get the discount. Well I called them up and he gave it to me anyway.

My wife and I usually stay at Hidden Mountain Resort. They have cabins anywhere from one room on up to 4 bedroom. They are just out of Pigeon Forge. The only downside to them is the close proximity to other cabins and the narrow roads to get to them.
