Are you talking about eggshell foam? If you just need it in a pinch, buy an eggshell mattress cover from someplace like Wal-Mart in the bedding area.

Back to OP, I have wondered if you could use that foam for filling in cracks to make an exact form for a pistol and mag or two. I definitely wouldn't put it in till it had started to form up and would wrap the items in saran wrap but I think it would be possible. Haven't needed to do it yet, still pondering. Maybe you'll be the guinea pig and can tell me?

My girlfriend works for a company that makes mattresses. I hadn't thought about it, but I'm sure she can get some from work. Maybe for nothing.

Not sure VolDaddy if your very picky about what kind your wanting to use but I ran into the same issue when it was time to replace some foam in one of my Starlight guncases. The factory original foam cost half what the case did so I found this company on E-gay that had all different types, colors, waterproof and density. http://stores.ebay.com/Foam-N-More-Upholstery-Inc_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsxQ3asstQQtZkm
