I have a BCM 16 Reece rifle mid length gas system.  I've owned it now 4 years or so.  It has always threw and 4 to 430 ejection pattern. The only thing j have done to it recently was put a surefire warcomp as a muzzle device and worked great.

I took it off about a week ago and reinstalled the BCM Mod o muzzle device back on it. It suddenly starting throwing a 2 to 230 ejection. I  changed the buffer spring to make sure it wasn't getting weak and then added a H2 buffer that was 11 grams heavier and sane thing. Also, noticed today some pretty noticeable ejector marks on the head stamp. Any suggestion on what could could cause this.

Field stripped the gun done through cleaning checked gas tube and gas block nothing seems really out of place. Any help would be appreciated.

Dumb question but did you make sure the gas rings are all spaced apart evenly? The gas wings are like little piston rings there is a gap on each ring make sure they are all equidistant  from each other say one gap is it 12 o’clock one gap at 4 o’clock one gap at 8 o’clock see if that helps. Also if it’s feeding correctly and firing fine, I wouldn’t fix it till it’s broke. The ammo you’re running me be a little bit different than the first batch u ran…

Sending a dirty gas pulse into the breech has always been a bad idea IMO. Trying to clean them before turn in was an impossible task with what the army gave you to clean them.  Give me my M-14 back and I’ll be happy.  My M-14 and the M-60 gunner got along just  fine as we shared ammo.  We could reach out and touch while the M-16’s just sprayed.
