for-sale Winchester 1873 price drop

1. This is a Winchester 1873 Third Model built in 1893 (dated by serial number on Winchestercollector . Org). This has a 24 inch octagon barrel and is chambered in 44-40 WCF. This could use a good cleaning but has a beautiful plum patina to it. It has one new Winchester screw in the lower tang to secure the stock better, it is missing the dust cover and has a small crack in the buttstock. Everything is original to the rifle aside from the one screw. Plenty more pictures available upon request. 

$2000 OBO. May consider firearm trades of equal value.

Is the 38-56 wcf the same as the 38 wcf. They seem to have dropped the -56 by the Winchester 1892.

No.

38-56 is based on the 45-70 Case. 

38 WCF for the Win 1892 is a completely different cartridge.

The 38 WCF is the same as a 38-40 WCF. Different cartridge all together. I had a 3 digit sn 1873 about 12 years ago in 38-40 WCF, great looking gun but I was offered a price I couldn’t refuse at the time.

Thanks, it’s rough in a lot of places. The previous owner loved his potted plants, even had an indoor corn stalk growing when we viewed the house prior to purchase. It’s on my list of stuff to replace once I’m done with my surgeries.

Bump, will entertain offers and discounts to established TGO members. Ammo for these can be found at old south ammo for the 38-56 and a ton of places have 44-40.

Weekend bump, will be including a box of 38-56wcf for the 1886 (not cheap stuff, it was $135 shipped for 20 rounds). I’ll include 100 rounds of Aguila .30 Carbine for the M1. No ammo for the 1873 but Winchester still makes 44-40wcf (USA4440CB) for the rifle.

Bump, I did take the time to shoot the 1886 and took a video for proof it functions so now there’s 19 rounds in the box. I’ll attempt to get some 44-40 and do the same at some point.
