My nephew came over today and had a used Sig 226 9 MM he purchased from the guy that purchased it new. We took it to my range and ran 30 rounds through it. He wanted to hold down the round count through it. Round total is now 48. The 226 looked brand new and not a scratch on it nor any holster wear. Still in original box with all paperwork. Great pistol. Haven't met a Sig I haven't liked.聽

I gave my Sig 229 to my grandson. He is a 40 cal fan.聽

Edited to add. My wife said for me to give our nephew a gun. Gave him my new 686 + 3 inch, when I am through with it. Also gave my Grandson my Ruger MIni 14 Ranch Hand 223/556 2nd generation carbine when he was here last week. Going to take it to him in Sept when we travel to S Carolina and let him borrow it until I am through with it. Really thinning my collection so my wife will not be bothered with giving them away.聽

Great!聽 Am just curious why you are trying to keep the round count down on the P226?聽 That is a workhorse of a firearm.

I鈥檇 shoot the hell out of a 226. They made a gazillion of them, so no point keeping the round count low unless it鈥檚 a super rare variant.

You sound like one badass uncle/grandad gifting a 686 and a Mini 14! I鈥檓 the only one in my whole family whose into firearms, unfortunately.

Just so you know Pop Pop, I鈥檓 immediately available for adoption, if you happen to be looking for another kid. 馃榿

JustED, it was not my pistol and nephew wanted to keep the round count low. I never asked him why but let him have his way. That pistol is a tank and felt like a pistol should. No fantastic plastic there. I will admit the pistol was pristine. Never noticed a blemish on the pistol. I cleaned and lightly lubed the Sig and sent him back home with it.聽

I started with about 70 firearms and am now down to about 25. Several I inherited from my dad. All my 4 daughters, SILs, and grandkids (6) have mementoes from Pop Pop's collection. The ones that use them several different ones.

Moped, I don't want to adopt anyone but still have a few to give away before I will be satisfied. Only pistols left and down to 1 12 Ga Mossberg mdl 500 house gun. Leaving my wife an ample supply should I go first. Does my heart good to see them putting the firearms to good use. I did when I was young and the little $20.00 410 I got in 1957, at age 9, is still killing squirrels, rabbits, and turkeys in South Carolina with my grandson and his dad. SIL sent me a movie of Parker killing a Red Squirrel this spring with the 410, and told me he really loved the little Stephens. He Turkey hunted also with it. Brought tears of joy to my eyes. One can't ask for more than that, guys. I have loved them in the past, and now they are still being loved.

Is that not what you want for your treasures????聽

I have an older 229 in .40 that I absolutely love.聽 Wouldn't trade it for any other model or cartridge.聽 I think the .40 gets far too much of a bum rap.聽聽
