Going to StLouis MO, question about CC there?

Recommended Posts

We are going in a couple of weeks for a weekend trip to St Louis and I need to know what I can or can not do regarding carrying while we are there.

Can I carry concealed there? I read on another site something about concealed carry not allowed? We are planning to go to the TSO, (Trans Siberian Orchestra) show which will be at the Scott Trade Center downtown, we are also staying dowtown. I would like to have my glock with me at all times but dont want to get put in jail if I did have to defend myself while there.

I am hoping some of you may know the laws or have some good links for me to study up on...

Thanks!

Yeah, if you have to go through Illinois to get there, you'll need to stop before you leave Indiana and secure your weapon in the trunk, separated from it's ammo until you cross over into Missouri. And if you're taking that route, I wouldn't stop until I was in West St. Louis or even St. Charles, rather than stopping just across the line in East St. Louis, which is not a very pleasant neighborhood.

Don't forget, you'll probably be traveling through Illinois to get there, and unless I'm very mistaken, that means unloaded and locked away till you get to Missouri.

Instead of going to Lexington and then following I-64 through Louisville crossing the Ohio at New Albany and then taking that west through Indianna and Illinois, I'd take the western route.

  1. Take I-40 to Nashville,
  2. then follow I-24 west to Paducah
  3. US 60 west to cross the Ohio just south of Cairo
  4. continue to follow 60 west and cross the big muddy after about 2 miles into MO.
  5. continue with US 60w as it runs with I-57. Follow that to I-55 North and take that straight north to St. Louis.

This way you are only in Illinois for about 2 miles. It's all interstate or at least good 4 lane parkway.

According to his info he lives in Dyersburg. All he has to do is take I-155 straight over in to MO then up I-55 to St. Louis.

This will be my route of travel....

thanks for the concern and info about travel through Ill. though. I will need to remember that if I ever travel to/through Ill.

Missouri is nice because their 'off limits' locations on that long list mean absolutely nothing if you have a license. All that the owner/operator can do is ask you to leave. You can carry in bars, schools, restaurants, hospitals without fear of criminal prosecution. Just don't try to carry at the St Louis Arch because there are metal detectors and that is a federal facility. Tennessee has a lot to learn from a place like Missouri, legal to conceal with a license, legal to keep a handgun loaded in your car concealed or unconcealed w/o a license, and legal to open carry in most cities/counties without a license. I do remember not too long ago traveling to Missouri and having to put my handgun on the dashboard, but thankfully this has changed.

Well we went on our trip and all was well! I carried in the tourist mode with a nice fanny pack and didn't have any trouble at all. We got out of there last night just in time apparently to miss the now looming ice storm!

If any of you have ever thought about seeing the "TSO" live I highly recommend it! They put on a wonderful show and we really enjoyed it, we will probably go see them again.
