. . . why did they throw the gun out? It seems like common sense would say, "Pick it up, align the sights, front sight just under bad guy's nose, pull trigger, call police to pick up the leftovers."

Oh well, that little detail aside, at least they're safe and no one who didn't deserve it was harmed.

The might not have been comfortable with a gun. I'd rather them throw it out the window than try to fire it and accidentally hit one of the other family members.

The families comments about this scum bag being sorely missed are wonderful.

Here is the true tragedy of the situation

"It was not intended," Belle said, "but when they told me he was deceased, I was thinking, 'How will I live with this for the rest of my life?'"

Everyone is concerned with the BG's rights and family etc. What about the VICTIM's? They have less rights and concern for their well being and they did NOTHING wrong.

I wonder if that statement was more for the lawyers than anything else. What would it look like if she said "Man, that was a rush wasting that bad guy! I'm so glad he broke in... I've been wanting to kill somebody for a long time!"

THAT would look pretty bad!

I agree with the underlying idea of your post. I just think that a lot of times people say things like this to keep the pressure off of themselves after a homicide.
