Ted Rall Calls for Armed Socialist Revolution

Posted by Van Helsing at November 9, 2010 9:38 AM

The cockroaches are crawling out of the cracks, angrily flicking their antennae to and fro right out in the light. Enraged at the results of the 2010 election, they're no longer willing to wait quietly through the Gramscian/Fabian process of incremental totalitarianism. MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell freely admits he's a socialist. Tim Wise openly boasts of the progressive plan to obliterate America through demographics. Now Ted Rall — a fixture in the mainstream media establishment — noisily calls for an armed socialist revolution in his aptly named The Anti-American Manifesto. Excerpt via Verum Serum:

We are here because the U.S. is going to end soon
. There's going to be an intense, violent, probably haphazard struggle for control. It's going to come down to us versus them. The question is:
What are you going to do about it?
…

Christian fundamentalists, the millennial end-of-the-worlders obsessed with the Left Behind series about the End Times, neo-Nazi racists, rural black-helicopter Michigan Militia types cut from the same inbred cloth as Timothy McVeigh, allied with
"mainstream" gun nuts and right-wing Republicans
, have been planning, preparing, and praying for the destruction of the "Godless," "secular" United States for decades
. In the past, they formed groups like the John Birch Society and the Aryan Nations.
Now the hard Right has a postmodern, decentralized non-organization organization called the Tea Party. …

A war is coming
. At stake: our lives, the planet, freedom, living. The government, the corporations, and the extreme right are prepared to coalesce into an Axis of Evil. Are you going to fight back?
Will you do whatever it takes, including taking up arms?...

I want you to see that revolt is a good idea, and that it has never been more necessary.

Good thing most liberals are afraid of guns.

Unsurprisingly, MSNBC is helping him promote his malignant manifesto:

The reason Comrade Obama et al. are deliberately destroying our economy with obviously unsustainable spending à la Cloward-Piven is to set the stage for rhetoric like Rall's. After the inevitable economic collapse will come thugs of the SEIU/ACORN stripe to officially snuff out America and replace it with a multi-culti update of the Soviet Union.

It's beginning to look like moonbats and Americans cannot occupy the same territory indefinitely.

Classy of Rall to pick on rural people and Christians. That's never been done before. :(

I now believe in the existence of black helicopters. Two flew over my house a few days ago while I was working outside. Probably the National Guard or some such. Not really worried about it.

Good luck learning to shoot, Mr. Rall. You might try going to an Appleseed. :)

The trouble with these people is some of

them mean it. This is the stuff people like Van

Jones are actively promoting. The progressives

are just the tip of the iceberg. Don't discount

their rhetoric. Dig a little bit. There are some

radicals who would love to see another

Red October, but right here.

We don't need anybody taking it to the streets, but a couple of different trains of thought--

====

A radical left or radical right dilettante middle-class poser might buy weapons to be "ready for the revolution" but be too busy playing computer games or making dumb comments on political websites to ever learn to use them. Back in the Viet Nam era I met a few nutty SDS-type spoiled brat students (and stayed clear of them) who had acquired weapons to be ready for the revolution but AFAIK were too busy smoking dope to ever get around to learning how to shoot them.

Earlier in the mid-60's I ran across a few red-scare Birchers and Minuteman types who were stockpiling arms in case the reds took over. Those guys probably actually knew how to use the stuff, but since the reds never took over the theory was never tested. :( The fellers just lived out their ordinary lives in the following decades "always prepared" for counter-revolution which was never necessary.

There is a psychological hazard for the more serious-minded modern wanna-be revolutionary middle-class lefty. If that guy buys some guns and heads out to the range to learn to shoot-- He will have to enter gun shops and rub elbows with typical gun shop patrons. He will have to socialize with other folks at the range. He will discover that shooting is a lot of fun, and that gun buffs are typically pretty nice fellers.

A psychological world-view is a house-of-cards. A network of interlocking beliefs. The lefty who believes the party line including that "guns are evil"-- When he discovers that guns are not evil and most gun-owners are decent enough folks, it will destroy one of the interlocking beliefs. It will cause a loose thread in the belief system, opening the possibility that the entire belief system could unravel.

He will begin to consider, if guns are not really evil, then perhaps some of the other tenets of socialism are not really as beneficial as he once thought. He will resent the govt messing with his guns, and begin to oppose gun-control laws, forcing him to support more-right-wing politicians than he previously did.

If Chuck Schumer is wrong about guns, then what else might Schumer be wrong about? If the revolution ever finally arrives, he might find himself on the opposite side of where he expected to be. I think the typical reformed lefty is more likely to morph into a libertarian than a right-winger.

The other un-related thought I sometimes consider--

Society always has its street-fighters and neer-do-wells. They are usually non-political troublemakers.

In other times and places, various right-wing and left-wing power-hungry authority figures have managed to politicize the non-political street fighters and common criminals. 1960's Greece and Hitler's Germany are a couple of possible good examples. There seemed to be some of that in USA hard-hats beating up hippies in the 1960's, or early-20th century USA violent union strikes. Ireland may be an example of politicized street-fighters, but I'm too ignorant to know. A historian could probably make a long list.

In the modern USA, if a politician were to politicize the street-fighters, he would be getting street gangs and biker gangs and drug smugglers into the action. If that ever happens, it would be much more serious than a few middle-class radical lefty bloggers buying shotguns they never learn to use.

It still comes down to getting those

people to understand that their

message was wrong. That means

people like Shumer need to be

exposed at every opportunity, for

what he is. He and his friends are

leading folks down the wrong path.
