Solar stoves are being used in Darfar in the Sudan. They are two cardboard boxes, one inside the other. The inner box is painted black to absorb sunlight, and the heat is trapped with a transparent acrylic lid. Captured solar energy heats up the air in the box enough to boil food and water and bake. There are also plans for collapsible ones on the internet.

Back when I was in boy scouts, we would wrap some meat and potatoes up in aluminum foil and cook them on the car's manifold on the way to camp. It's works surprisingly well and kept us from having to cook in the dark.

When I was younger I had a gig with a logging crew. That was one of the multiple things I learned at the time. That was how most of our food was heated and cooked.

I must say, after watching this awesome piece, I find myself looking around dumpsters for a "tossed" dish. ie... dumpster diving. LOL I have got to make me one of these.
