  1. Only parts of it as it is a rehash of his positions and sounds very much like a campaign speech. But I rarely listed to any POTUS SOTU speech, not just because this is Pres Obama.
  2. I have an '04 F150 with the 5.4L and the engine oil filter is in less than optimum spot (there are kits to move the filter, but I think they only work up thru the 04 models.) Guys with the 4x4 have an even tougher job. A quick way I finally found it to remove the top air intake (one bolt), push it out of the way, and you can reach the filter to break it loose from the top side. Once I figured that out, piece of cake (good things no penalties for swear words!). Don't know if you have this truck but if so you know what I mean on the oil filter. Good luck! Cheers, Barry
  3. I hope it went well. I have been laid off since September and was flown to Orlando for an inperson (job would be worked from here in TN). Now in the waiting phase, so many Americans now. Again good luck to you!!!!
  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours also.
  5. I have been out of pocket lately and have missed reading the great posts in the different areas. So, had time this evening and wanted to drop in and say (yep, well in advance) a HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all. Of course, one of the many things I have to be thankful for is living in TN and having my HCP
  6. My condolences to you and yours for your loss.

    My new toy

Really nice - congrats and please keep us up to date on how you like it, any issues, etc. Again, congrats and enjoy it.
  8. + a bunch on speed and lugs.
  9. Nicely done so kudos to your Nephew; always great to see a young person using their noodle!
  10. I use insecticidal soap and/or Neem oil. Both are very effective and not harmful to dogs, kids, etc. But I try to be careful to spray when flowers are closed, as I don't want to kill any bees - bumble or honey. Each year I tell myself I will spread something to get 'em in the ground then don't. Another way, depending on the size of your garden, is to go out early in the day awhen the bugs are sluggish (no puns intended) and pluck the little b-----ds off by hand and drop "em in a bucket of soapy water (made with any dish washing liquid or even Simple Green - and diluted Simple Green makes a good insecticial spray, also, if you want something not too costly and "do it yourself").
  11. Agree with OP on checking out USAA if you are eligible - we switched everything (home, auto, umbrella) to them last year and overall saved aroudn 350 bucks a year for much better coverage (especially homeowners).
  12. See, another reason why dogs are a man's best friend! They really know how to get those cool gifts for us. Cheers!
  13. Congrats on the G19 and that just sucks on the range! But you have it now anyway...Enjoy!
  14. Thanks! I have used the knives a lot in the last couple of days and they are working well. And i hear you - i am now mentioning to the "pack" how Dad could use a new pistol, LOL (Christmas is not that far away).
  15. Got a new set of JA Henckels today - quite a surprise. My wife said the dogs gave her money and told her to get them for me for father's day - we don't have human kids. Guess she and the dogs got tired of me griping about needing to go and get some new (and good qualify) knives for the kitchen, since I like to cook and have griped about dull knives. I am now, thanks to my thoughtful dogs, the proud owner of a set of Twin Signature JA Henckels (Chef, Santoku, paring, utility, peeler and steak knife set). Used them tonight and what a pleasure to use. Now I think I need to gripe about needing some more folders, etc within hearing of the dogs - I knew it would pay off having them invest their allowances.
  16. Jeepers Mate - I am so sorry for your loss. But your furry friend will meet up with again, at Rainbow Bridge. Hang in there - the pain will lessen and the good memories remain. Deepest condolences The 7Dogguy (who now is really 5 dog guy, due to the same sad event over the last 8 months as you just had)
  17. Welcome to the team, brother. You'll enjoy shooting it and carry is easy, too.
  18. I see ads frequently in our paper (Clarksville) for positions - thru Kelly I think (?) for temp and temp to perm in Springfiled. I'd suggest giving that a shot as a lot of those types of roles convert to fulltime. As many have said, good luck - and for my two cents, you are doing what any fella or gal needing work does, that is, using your noodle and not leaving any stone unturned. I will also keep an eye and ear out - please keep us updated and again, the best of luck to you.
  19. Thanks for the link and you answered something I wondered - would this pass a challenge based on the First Amendment. I also agree it's a crazy and waste of time law, but I reckon part of a politicians daily work is to see who can be the most asinine.
  20. That must have been a good discussion and I agree, fail to remember history at our own peril. And exercise our right to vote and get some real change going. But having said that, I understand my ox could well be among those gored if we are serious about getting back on track thru tightening up spending, etc. Thanks for the post - refreshing to hear of folks actually talking in person (he sheepishly types on the internet forum).
  21. Plastic milk jugs, golf balls, charcoal briquettes (spelliing?) - all work OK for the trusty .22 (Buckmark) and are cheap (recommend not using the prefueled charcoal even with a .22). And I can recyle the jugs when done and be a good citizen, ha ha. As to the the golf balls - what a better fate for that disobedient orb that refuses to listen to me once hit and seeks only rough and water hazards than to get plugged!
  22. Looks like a good deal if you want to get rid of your G22, I'd venture. But me, I'd (if my budget manager, aka Wife :-)) would allow, I'd buy the Sig and keep the Glock (I have attachment issues to guns, dogs, and such). Some of the actual dealers would have more say on true value; but isn't market value all about what a fella is willing to pay? Good luck! Enjoy the weekend and if so inclined, say a prayer or have a good thought as we remember what this weekend is really all about. Cheers! the now down to five but still remembering the full pack of 7dogguy
  23. Sorry for the loss of you dog. Years ago, I kept a couple for some friends who were having a tough time - wonderful dogs. Only problem was they thought there were lap dogs, LOL - as you know, that's a whole bunch of dog to suddenly be in your lap. Again, sorry for the loss and good luck - I will keep my ears and eyes open here in middle TN.
  24. Seems to me when about 50% pay nothing, large corporations pay nothing, we need a SERIOUS overhaul of the IRS. Think about it - tax codes and issues are so much of a problem there are many many law firms that do only tax law; that should be the good indicator (if we needed imore) of how out of control the codes are and the harm it does. But for politicians in the Democrat/Liberal camp, taxing plays well to the base. It will be a very interesting next year and a half with the election race.
