The government's helping to run GM into the ground, just like they screw up every other business venture they get into. The CEO said that GM is running the company, not the government, but that Obama told the previous CEO to resign. That makes my head hurt.

Government had no business engaging in the private sector, but that was only a payoff to the UAW. They were

essentially given GM for their years of support and the only way GM could survive was by taxpayer support.

A very wrong thing to do since private enterprise would have trimmed down the company after a bankruptcy,

which was needed. The union gift set the stage for a bigger fall.

Didn't realize it was old. I guess when you see it on Yahoo's financial page you think it's current.

I hear ya. Someone who works there just messed up when adding a link to something and made an old story temporarily a current story, then caught their error and killed the link.

GM isn't out of the water, yet, and is unlikely to survive for the long term. That article which is a couple

years old only tells the tip of the iceberg. GM announced on the news a year or so ago, that it has started

making a profit and has repaid a substantial part of its loan back, which wasn't true. They were essentially

forgiven the amount of money they claimed to have paid. They seem to be using the same propaganda

tools the administration does.

It's really a pity the unions got such a grip on the company. They will go down hard, even with the tax dollars

added.
