Carry Handle or Magpul Rear Flip-Up ?

Recommended Posts

My latest carbine build has an A2 front sight ( the only AR I have with one ) and an A3 upper , I am debating on the carry handle or the Magpul. It's my understanding from research the Magpul has no elevation adjustment ; thoughts ? I guess that's what the front sight is for , but what about quick changes in the field ? Edited by Threeeighty

IMHO, if you are only going to have iron sights, carry handle.

If you want to mount another optic, and have back up sight at the ready, the Magpul or other flip up BUIS.

Although I went with a Magpul only on a pistol upper, so violated my own advice there. But it's mostly a 50 yard purposed thang as I see it.

I hear ya , the more I thought about it the more sense it makes to go with the smaller MBUS , it's just a 14.5 carbine and will be the only AR I have without optics. I will set it up for about 50 yards elevation wise using the front sight and forget about it. Thanks for the reply.

I would go for a fixed non-flip ironsight. To answer OP's question I would go for carry handle. My Magpul BU(plastic) sight usually sits flat behind an Eotech. If I move the Eotech, I also remove the Magpul and replace with carryhandle. The Magpul serves well as a cheap American Made backup but doesn't compete with dedicate "iron" sights.
