Mississippi Speed Limit Increase To 75

MS House passed a bill to raise the interstate speed limit to 75. 

 

Any possibility we can get this in TN? Especially get rid of the EPA 65/55 speed limit in Shelby County and east TN?

tn is 70, spending untold taxpayer $$$ to change all the 0s to 5s when everyone already drives 80+ is a major waste of money IMHO.  

Can't comment on the slower roads, but 55 is awfully slow if the road is in interstate condition / quality.   Remember, the interstate is concrete bedded, it can take an 18 wheeler moving 80 mph with tons of weight.  Asphalt over gravel may not hold up as well?

They make turns over double lines!

 

They turn on their turn signals,(if at all), at the last 30 feet before they turn!

 

They pull out in front of you, there is no car behind me  for 200 feet, WTF!  And it's not just me, they will pull out in front of any one! Why can't they wait 15 seconds and then pull out when it it safe!

 

Multiple lane changes, your a threat to every one!

 

Cell phone drivers, I hate you with a passion, put down the f''king phone, and just drive the car!

 

My fear of driving here is gone! But there are some very bad dangerous drivers out there!

This is exactly why I gave up riding a motorcycle when I moved to Tennessee. Your rant speaks truth!

except when looking at the car tags shows the driver is from out of state as much as in state!

I continue to ride and am always keeping an eye out for those trying to kill me.  "I'm glad your phone call is more important than my life a**hole!"  Our speed limits are dumbed down to accommodate the lowest common denominator.  The Autobahn has a similar fatality rate as US interstates, the catch is if you crash you are likely to die, over there you drive and only drive, Europeans don't understand why American cars have cup holders.   Unlike gun ownership operating a car is a privilege not a right.  In a heartbeat I would support legislation to make driving tests rigorous but up or do away with speed limits.  It takes me about 3 hours to drive to my parent's place.  If there were no speed limits I could make it in an hour and a half, safely.  Speed limits, you are wasting time thanks to stupid people.
