Jumped on the M&P bandwagon

Been looking into these guns for a while now, but was hesitant because of the problems these guns seemed to be having.

But I understand that S&W has worked the bugs out for the most part.

So I gots me a new 9c, this particular specimen has the mag safety, which I'm not too concerned with either way

Put 100 rounds through it so far, nice shooter

One thing that bugs me is I didn't notice this one came with 10 round mags, but I hope the rebate mags are 12

Now I need a nice holster...suggestions?

im thinking about getting one my self. what is a "mag safety"

It disables the fire-control when there is no magazine inserted (or if it improperly inserted).

Not necessarily a deal-breaker... but it is one more thing to break, and renders a chambered round useless in a panic situation if the magazine drops (which M&Ps have been known to do). It's a California (and a few other states') requirement, along with the 10rd magazine thing.

You can get M&Ps without the mag-safety, btw... they are pretty common, actually. I've never seen an M&P around here with it, to tell the truth.

It's a fine gun, I bought one for my son as a 21st birthday gift. He likes OWB, so he's got a Don Hume ( I almost typed Bret Hume :hiding: ) Agent slide. It's a fine gun, I'm tempted to get one for myself someday.

How does this differ from their SW99?

The SW99 was a clone of the Walther P99. S&W simply imported them (and made some S&W specific parts & models to distinguish themselves from Walther).

The two guns have basically nothing in common, other than they have polymer frames and are striker-fired. The P99 is more like the Glock or Steyr than anything else. The M&P is more like the XD (based on how the action works)

Thanks for all the replies folks, haven't had the opportunity to do a proper range workout with it, just some backyard plinking at a friends.

I've read that the mag disconnect feature can be removed without much difficulty.

Feels much better in the hand than any of the Glocks I've had

I have a 40c with the Mag safety, never really looked at it as an issue but many people do.

I looked at Glocks but they just didn't fit as good as the M&P does in my hands.

Glad you are liking your M&P. I got an M&P 40 mainly due to the amazing price that Buds gun shop has on them right now. (only like $429) I was not sure what to expect. WOW, do I love mine. It is laser accurate and stays on target with rapid follow up shots. I have run about 500 rounds through mine with nothing but perfection from it. I have a Glock and XD, and this is my favorite and choice for carry at this point. 15+1 in .40 and it is not much bigger than a glock 23. What a great gun!!

The magazine disconnect is more of a feature than a safety. No need in getting it if you don’t want it; it comes both ways.

The M&P is a great weapon. I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for buying American.

Congrats on the new gun!

Your dealer ordered a California legal gun (10rd mags) instead of the 12rd mag version...I can't remember if the S&W Rebate ones are 10 or 12.. :taunt:

As far as holsters, there are several good ones... basically anything but Fobus. :squint:

If I recall correctly, my son had the choice of 10 or 12; extended bumper or flat on the rebate mags.

Yes you should have gotten a little rebate sheet to fill out that gives you those options. If you didn't...march back to the store and grab one.

i got the 40 and love it. but as for the rebate don't bother checking the mail box anytime soon. mine was entered on April 4. and i am still waiting for the mags. called them the first week of the month and they told me at least another month. oh well they are still free.

I love my 9c. Great groups and I really like the trigger pull on it. The extra grips are a great extra also.

I screwed up and got mine after their mag deal ran out and before their new one started. Still very happy with it though.

Somebody asked in another thread, but does anyone know where I can get the pinky extension for one mag??

{{{{{5. Pull the trigger while lifting the rear rail/sear block from the frame, the ejector is not attached and will fall off when you get it out it will look like this:}}}}}

Now this is good to know. A good way to get inside to clean better after a shoot.
