I agree with several others here.  For $400 or less, I would probably opt for the Kel Tec PF9.  However, for another $100 you can get a much nicer pistol like a Glock, M&P, or Springfield XD.  I personally would try to save up a little more scratch.

As far as the Taurus pistols, I have owned a PT1911 that had no problems.  I know many people who really like their Taurus pistols.  I also know that when I worked at a gun shop several years ago, the Taurus firearms were the most common to come back with problems.  I also recently spoke with a guy who works at Gander Mountain and said that the Taurus handguns come back more than others.  As a result, I do not intend to buy another.  There are just too many more firearms in the same price range that seem to have a better track record.  I am not bashing Taurus as a whole, nor am I saying this to be a "gun snob".  Rather, I am just sharing my two cents on the subject as I see it.  If it came down to a Taurus or nothing, it would be the Taurus.  If it came down between a Taurus or a Hi Point, I'd take the Taurus.  If it came down to a new Taurus against even a well-used Glock or M&P, I'd go with those any day over the Taurus.

Taurus 1911's and PT92's are exceptions to the Taurus sucks rule, all others...
I have never owned a Hi Point but there are some guys that swear by them for HD and EOTWAWKI.
I have owned a lot of Keltecs and I personally like the P11 better than the PF9. The P11 is generally cheaper, half the recoil, and uses S&W magazines. It really isn't too much larger either.

I know I want the SR9c, it's just a matter of finding what I want now. Hopefully one will pop up soon, either here in the classifieds or in one of my local shops. We'll see.

If this is what you have decided on , accept no substitute......wait it out you will find it

I really like the SR9c, but Bill doesn't have one in stock yet. I love that store though! I haven't looked at the SD9VE though. Are there any downsides to that gun? I heard a lot of bad things about the Sigma line, is this the same gun?

Bill's had some in today when I went by (SR9C). I believe they were $429 New.
