Any opinions on a Rossi 357 4"? Looking at a trade.

Someone approached me today (not from TGO) on a trade.  My Taurus .45 Millennium (which I had for sale) for his Rossi 357 mag.  The Rossi seems to pretty standard, blued with a 4" barrel and adjustable rear sights.  I was hoping  to sell the 45 for 3 gun funds, but a back up 357 revolver is on my short list.  We're looking at an even trade.  Any opinions on the Rossi's? All of my experience is with Colt and S&W.

Thanks!

Sounds fair. And fitting, since Rossi is owned by Taurus for some time now. :)

Rossi revolvers has a pretty fair rep for holding up. You might even be getting the better end of the deal.

edit: TrickyNicky's comment below reminded me to add that yeah, fit and finish is more in the Taurus/Charter camp, and if you want to drive nails with it day end and day out, Ruger and Smith would be worth holding out for.

Well I have no doubt the trigger wont be like a Python but considering the Taurus is DA only almost any DA/SA revolver will have it beat.  I also already reload for 38/357 and wouldn't mind another 357 pistol that is carry worthy.  Sounds like they are decent pistols from what I have read.  He mentioned something about it being based on a S&W J-Frame?  Possible?  Size looks about right.

My brother had a Rossi 357 that would lock up and the cylinder would not turn after 12 rounds or so.

It didn't seem to do it as bad with  38spl.

He sent it back to Rossi (taurus) and they fixed it free of charge and sent it back to him.

It NEVER had any more problems after that. They replaced all the parts internally and reset the cylinder/barrel gap.

An to beat it all, he bought it USED. Their customer service is great.

I think you will be happy. I have a 6" 357 and love it.
