PCP Polymer Cased Ammo Warning

Recommended Posts

I hope shotgun shells don't hit 60,000 PSI like the 308 can. Regardless, they have a weird design with a brass head, white polymer case body and then what looks like black delrin for the shoulder and neck. That is too many changes in the case material, at least with shotgun shells the polymer is cupped into the brass / aluminum / steel base, these have a weird locking system that molds the brass to the polymer. And I don't mean to sound like I am dismissing Oh Shoot. I agree that the loads are probably hot, one of the reviews stated that neck tension was non-existent on the ammo right out of the factory box. They use a somewhat compressed load but there is always room for some sort of issue, heck the bullet may be pulling out a bit as it chamber pushing it into the lands.

I got some of the PCA plastic brass the other day. First time that I've seen the stuff. I tried the link above but it clears the screen before you can read it.
I wonder if you can reload it? The plastic, unlike brass, doesn't expand and stay there. I can seat a bullet in the fired cartridge and it seems pretty tight. I know that I can put a new primer in it and powder. What do you think about putting a little pvc glue on the bullet?

The only thing I would reload into these, would be a delrin plug and use them for dummies.

What problem was this supposed to be a solution for?

"We're running out of brass, the last American smelter is closing, Obama, Obama, Bloomberg, Obama."

At least that's what I remember from when I had first heard about them, something like that anyway v
