Any TGO folks ever used one of these?

Recommended Posts

I guess these are somewhat new or I have just been blind to them but sound good in theory. There are some really good reviews @ Midway and some not so good ones but there are only 12 total so there's not really enough to assume that the negative reviews were left by inept individuals or the other way around.

I just got one of these. The QC leaves a little to be desired. Lots of extra plastic from the molds and such, and the one I got the trigger mechanism was jammed.

But, once I got that working and made sure the primer drop holes were drilled out it works fantastically.

I hand prime everything so don't worry about the primer tubes. But when I did have to fill the tubes, I hated it - although not enough to spend the original $50 (and maybe not even $25) for a tool to help.

I think they have been around for a while, heard them mentioned several times (although the FA brand one could be newer).

I like to keep half a dozen tubes already filled, so I only have to stop long enough to drop in more. Keeps my ADD from letting me get distracted, LOL.

This would be cool for filling them all in bulk, if it only worked with regular primer tubes.

I'm getting one. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE loading primer tubes. Even if it were only 50% effective, that's 1/2 the time spent loading primer tubes, which time I could better spend doing 1,000 other less annoying things.

What do you mean by "regular primer tubes" It says that it will work with progressive press primer pick up tubes.

Once I got it working well, and it really didnt take much to get it there, it works VERY well. Absolutely worth the $25 in my opinion.

But only if you get something else to make the shipping reasonable.

The poor finishing work seems to be the main gripe in the reviews so i'm glad to hear that it works well other than that. I only trust Midway (or anywhere else for that matter) reviews so much because you never really know what kind of moron may be mad because of their being intellectually and/or mechanically challenged keeps them from operating the item so I feel better hearing first hand from someone on TGO. I may pick one up next time I place an order. Has Midway's shipping gotten crazy again? Last order I placed was only $4 +/-

I'm not sure if I dislike it as much as you do (you seem to have no love for the process :) ) but I would rather be pulling the handle watching loaded rounds fall off the back of the press than poking around at primers. I have found that I least despise loading Wolf and Tula primers into the tubes because of the way they are facing in the tray they come in. I can place the ribbed half of the flip tray onto the thing the primers come in and flip them over and since they are on the ribbed side they don't slide around and remain in straight rows and not touching each other. If you order one before I do be sure to let me know what you think.

At the time I posted that, I didn't realize you didn't have to use the tubes that come with the gadget.

Now that I've done more research, I see that you can take the yellow or green pickup tips off of the Dillon tubes and it will load directly into them. That's pretty cool!!

This is the best upgrade I ever made to my Dillon. Besides the Bullet feeder.

I can load 10 primer tubes in about 20-25 minutes now.

I've had it since it cam back out. November maybe. works perfectly

So do you still have to go thru and flip the primers all the same way before using it. Might be faster to just go ahead and load the tubes, instead of transferring them to this gizmo!!

Yes and No, you have to flip them but you flip them in the supplied tray before attaching it to the pistol grip part so there is no flipping then transferring.

flip primers?  They are 99.999 % all going the same way in their original box, for every brand I have tried.  Open them slowly and transfer them carefully and flipping should be minimal?   All I do is see which way is the top, flip it upside down,  slide it onto my table, lift off the tray, and what remains is a grid of 100 all going the same way.

Some brands are sold with primers on edge in the tray ie.. Remington and Federal, then you have some that are sitting in the tray solid side up and some solid side down so only one of those would you not have to flip. There are a few brands that do like you described and they are much easier to pick up since they are in a grid pattern and not touching one another.
