Sr1911 night sights

Recommended Posts

I wouldn’t waste my money on night sights. I would go with a Crimson Trace Laser if you have the funds.

Night sights are great for low light conditions on an indoor range, but after having quite a few pistols with them; I'm beginning to see the better one (for me anyway) is the laser sighting system. Especially I think that's so on a 1911.

Not everyone will agree with me, but the more I look at sighting systems, the more I see that night sights aren't all their manufactures reputation would have us believe. I have just about come to believe that white dot, or many of the colored hi-viz tubes work better for me. I found that the "nites" just don't seem to help me at night.

Without a good light to see where you're aiming, all I can see are the dots. That is good, but I tend to focus on them more so than what may be out in front of them. So for me, it's definitely some sort of laser aiming system that works best in low or no light situations.

And before I crank someone up with these comments; it's just what seems to work for me as I age and eyesight gets weaker.

I have Crimson Trace units on my wife's house gun, and have them on a couple of mine I keep stashed about. I'm really liking the idea of some on a 1911 platform, but more likely will add something to one of my rifles first.
